Editions and Pre-Orders
September 27, 2026 at 06:27 AM
Corrected how outfits are changed (at wardrobes during the campaign)
Control Resonant is sold in four editions: a Standard and a Digital Deluxe Edition, on sale digitally since September 24, 2026, and a Physical and a SteelBook Edition on disc, due October 15, 2026. Pre-orders opened in June 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store and covered both digital and physical formats; since launch, Standard Edition owners on Steam can also buy the Deluxe content separately as the Digital Deluxe Upgrade. This page breaks down what each tier contains, what the pre-order bonuses were, when they unlock, and how the PlayStation early access worked. For the wider platform and release picture see Platforms and Release, and for a new player's primer see Getting Started.
Edition | Format | What It Includes |
|---|---|---|
Standard Edition | Digital | Main game. |
Digital Deluxe Edition | Digital | Main game, AWE Mission Outfit, digital artbook, original soundtrack, Starter Resource Bundle, and the Untapped Artifact (Wallet). On PlayStation 5, a digital pre-order of this edition also carried 48 hours of early access, which ended at the September 24 unlock. |
Physical Edition | Disc, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Main game on disc. |
SteelBook Edition | Disc, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Main game on disc, a SteelBook case, three fine art prints, and a key art poster. |
The published contents for the two disc tiers list the main game and, for the SteelBook, its physical extras: a SteelBook case, three fine art prints and a key art poster, as itemised in Remedy's September 17, 2026 press release. No digital bonus items are attached to either.
A Digital Deluxe Upgrade add-on went on sale on Steam on September 24, 2026, priced at 10 USD. It gives a Standard Edition owner the same extras as the Digital Deluxe Edition: the AWE Mission Outfit, the Digital Artbook, the Original Soundtrack, the Untapped Artifact (Wallet) and the Starter Resource Bundle. It is an upgrade to the edition, not story content. The PlayStation Store lists the same upgrade add-on, but it showed as unavailable to buy when checked on September 27, 2026.
Edition | United States | Eurozone | United Kingdom | Japan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Standard Edition (digital) | 59.99 USD | 59.99 EUR | 49.99 GBP | 7,920 JPY on the PlayStation Store |
Digital Deluxe Edition | 69.99 USD | 69.99 EUR | 59.99 GBP on Steam and in the press release; 54.99 GBP on the UK PlayStation Store | 8,910 JPY on the PlayStation Store |
Physical Edition | 59.99 USD | 59.99 EUR | 49.99 GBP | Not published |
SteelBook Edition | 69.99 USD | 69.99 EUR | 59.99 GBP | Not published |
The digital figures are the storefront prices as re-checked on September 27, 2026, three days after launch, and they are unchanged from the pre-order period; the physical figures come from Remedy's press releases of September 17 and September 24, 2026, which note that regional pricing may vary. One split persists: the Digital Deluxe Edition is listed at 59.99 GBP on Steam and in the press releases, but at 54.99 GBP on the UK PlayStation Store. Both are current on their own storefronts, so the price to trust is the one on the store you intend to buy from. The Japanese prices are those shown on the Japanese PlayStation Store, and no Japanese prices for the disc tiers have been published. On the Brazilian PlayStation Store the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions sell for R$230,90 and R$261,90.
Two items attached to every digital pre-order and a third came with PlayStation digital pre-orders only; the Digital Deluxe tier layers three more on top. When the game launched on September 24, 2026, Remedy removed the three pre-order items from its edition listings and the storefront listings stopped naming them, so they belonged to orders placed before release. The Digital Deluxe items remain part of that edition. Most of these items are not available the moment you start the game.
Item | Included With | When It Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
Hiss Corruption Outfit | Every digital pre-order, on every platform | At the end of Act 1, not immediately. |
Pickpocket's Tool Artifact | Every digital pre-order, on every platform | At the end of Act 1, not immediately. |
Occult Outfit | PlayStation digital pre-orders only, on both the Standard and the Digital Deluxe tiers | Remedy did not publish an unlock condition; this page will add it from the released game. |
AWE Mission Outfit | Digital Deluxe Edition | At the end of Act 1, not immediately. |
Untapped Artifact (Wallet) | Digital Deluxe Edition | At the end of Act 1, not immediately. |
Starter Resource Bundle | Digital Deluxe Edition | At the end of Act 1, not immediately. |
Digital artbook | Digital Deluxe Edition | Not listed among the items that unlock at the end of Act 1. |
Original soundtrack | Digital Deluxe Edition | Not listed among the items that unlock at the end of Act 1. |
The end of Act 1 condition is not an inference from patch notes or datamining. It was stated on the storefront listings themselves, which named the AWE Mission Outfit, the Untapped Artifact (Wallet) and the Starter Resource Bundle on the Digital Deluxe tier, and the Hiss Corruption Outfit and the Pickpocket's Tool Artifact on the Standard tier, as unlocking at that point rather than at the start of the game, and Remedy's Deluxe listings still carry that disclaimer after launch. The Occult Outfit was the one pre-order item with no published unlock condition attached, which is a gap rather than a confirmation that it is available immediately.
The Untapped Artifact is described as a wallet, and Artifacts are the equippable trinket layer covered on Artifacts. The outfits are cosmetic: Dylan Faden changes outfits at wardrobes during the campaign, and they do not affect combat stats.
The PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe Edition was the only edition that carried early access, and the studio dated it exactly. Early access began at 14:00 UTC on September 22, 2026 and ran into the global unlock at 14:00 UTC on September 24. That was a 48-hour head start over every other platform and every other tier, and Remedy's edition listings dropped the early access line at launch.
Two details are worth being precise about, because they are easy to blur together. The head start was tied to a digital pre-order of the Digital Deluxe tier on PlayStation, not to a PlayStation pre-order in general: the PlayStation Standard Edition listing did not include it. It was also a separate benefit from the Occult Outfit, which came with any PlayStation digital pre-order on either tier.
On Steam, players who had pre-ordered could pre-load the game from 14:00 UTC on September 23, 2026, 24 hours before launch. Remedy published no equivalent pre-load window for PlayStation 5 or Xbox. Download sizes are listed on Platforms and Release.
Disc copies are on their own schedule. The Physical Edition and the SteelBook Edition are both due at retail on October 15, 2026, three weeks after the digital launch, and both are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Remedy's FAQ lists orders for the physical editions as open, and its September 24 launch press release lists the SteelBook Edition as available to pre-order. There is no physical release on PC or Mac. The October date was first given on August 18, 2026, when Remedy announced that the game had gone gold and moved the physical release to that date, and it was repeated on August 25, 2026 in the announcement that premiered the Altered State trailer and revealed a five-piece apparel capsule collection styled after the Federal Bureau of Control's institutional wardrobe.
One outfit is region-specific. At ChinaJoy 2026 the studio revealed the Robe of the Expert from the Ministry of Immaterial Objectives, a China-exclusive cosmetic whose description presents the Ministry as an official Chinese agency that finds and contains supernatural phenomena to keep public order, an in-fiction counterpart to the Federal Bureau of Control. The same showing carried a trailer with the game's first Chinese dub. As of September 21, 2026 the outfit has not been announced for any other region on any first-party surface.
The game is sold on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store; the disc editions are due on October 15, 2026. On Steam the game carries App ID 3669870, with the Standard and Digital Deluxe tiers sold as separate packages. Both PC storefronts sell the same two digital tiers, and neither carried the PlayStation early access or the Occult Outfit. On the Xbox side the purchase is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so a single buy covers Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and supported Xbox handhelds, with saves, achievements and add-ons carrying across devices.
As listed on September 21, 2026, the Microsoft Store sold the Digital Deluxe Edition as a bundle of the base game plus five separately listed entitlements: the AWE Mission Outfit, the Original Soundtrack and Digital Artbook as one item, the Starter Resource Bundle, the Untapped Artifact (Wallet), and a pre-order bonus pack carrying the Hiss Corruption Outfit and the Pickpocket's Tool Artifact. The catalogue also flags the base game for Xbox cloud saves and achievements.
Two cosmetic offers sit outside the editions. Newsletter subscribers who own the game receive the Communications Department Headset and Optical Filtering Goggles; the offer ends at 11:59 PM EET on December 31, 2030. Remedy has also offered a "test dummy" outfit that players earn by watching the game on Twitch, which Remedy's Help Center lists as the Sierra Outfit. On September 25, 2026 Remedy said more cosmetic pieces for Dylan will follow in future updates; the outfits found in the game itself still have to be collected by playing.
Still open after launch:
The unlock condition for the Occult Outfit. Every other pre-order item carried an explicit end of Act 1 disclaimer; this one did not.
Post-launch paid content. Remedy describes Resonant as a complete experience at launch that will keep receiving updates and improvements as needed. As of September 27, 2026 the only paid add-on on sale is the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, and the first post-launch plans (New Game++ in October, Photo Mode in November, more cosmetics later) do not include a story expansion.
Whether the China-exclusive outfit will be offered in other regions.
Whether the SteelBook Edition will be stocked outside general retail, and in which territories.
This page will be updated as edition contents, unlock conditions and retail details are confirmed.
