Sanguine Twin is a dual-wielded weapon in Phantom Blade Zero. The set consists of two short swords that can be used for rapid close-range attacks and also thrown as projectiles for a ranged finisher. They share the same mysterious metal construction as Sanguine but are designed for a fundamentally different fighting approach.
The Sanguine Twin emphasizes speed and combo count over individual hit damage. Normal attacks are rapid alternating slashes from both blades that rack up hit counts quickly. The weapon excels at pressuring enemies with sustained offense.
Rapid slash chain: fast alternating cuts from both blades, 8+ hits in a full combo
Cross slash: simultaneous strike with both blades in an X pattern for burst damage
Spinning advance: forward-moving spinning attack that closes distance while dealing damage
Projectile finisher: throws one blade at the target, dealing ranged damage and ending the combo at distance
The standout mechanic of the Sanguine Twin is the ability to throw one of the blades as a projectile at the end of a combo. This transitions a melee engagement into a ranged finisher, allowing the player to disengage safely after dealing damage. The thrown blade returns automatically after a brief delay, so there is no resource cost to using the throw.
The projectile finisher can also be used to hit targets that are retreating or to maintain damage on a boss that has created distance. Preview players noted that the throw adds a unique rhythm to the weapon where melee combos flow into a ranged punctuation mark.
The Sanguine Twin generates Sha-Chi rapidly due to its high hit count per combo. Each individual hit generates a small amount, but the volume of hits adds up quickly. This makes the weapon a strong choice for players who want to use Phantom Edge abilities frequently.
