Phantom Blade Zero's world is defined by several competing factions. Which side of those conflicts Soul lands on shapes both the main 66-day arc and the side-quest branching network the game uses for multiple endings.
The Order

The central antagonist organisation Soul has 66 days against.
The Order is the secretive assassin guild Soul served as one of its youngest senior leaders before being framed for the murder of its patriarch. It controls the jianghu from behind the scenes through a network of assassins, informants, and political leverage. The patriarch's death creates a power vacuum that every other faction in the game is trying to exploit, and Soul's investigation forces him to confront the organisation he served his entire life.
Figure | Role within The Order |
|---|---|
Slain patriarch and Soul's adoptive father; his murder is the inciting event. | |
Soul | Youngest senior leader ("Will") within The Order before being framed. |
Master strategist and Soul's former best friend; chief antagonist within The Order's politics. | |
Senior martial figure encountered as a boss. | |
Boss-tier disciple tied to a multi-pawn formation fight. |
Phantom Blade Executioners
Soul himself comes from the lineage of the Phantom Blade Executioners, an elite enforcer line whose name carries the franchise forward. The Executioners stand on a separate footing from the rank-and-file Order assassins, and their bloodline is part of what makes Soul a high-stakes figure for everyone else.
Pang Town and Its Residents
Pang Town appears in current trailers as a settlement Soul moves through during his investigation. Townspeople, vendors, and mystic figures here form a soft "civilian" faction that sits adjacent to the Order's politics rather than inside them. The mystic healer who buys Soul his 66-day window is part of this peripheral world; the same healer is the only reason Soul is alive long enough to act at all.
Allies and Wildcards
Figure | Standing |
|---|---|
Daughter of the murdered patriarch and Soul's childhood friend; sits at the emotional centre of the conspiracy. | |
A returning figure connected to the studio's earlier wuxia work; current allegiance kept deliberately ambiguous in published trailers. |
Boss-Tier Antagonists Outside The Order
Several confirmed boss fights show enemies who answer to factions or codes of their own rather than to The Order's leadership. Specific boss articles document each fight in detail.
Political Backdrop
The game is set in The Phantom World, a darker, fictionalised take on a Ming Dynasty-flavoured jianghu. Faction conflict sits on top of that geography: kingdoms and regional powers exist alongside The Order, the Executioners, and the Phantom World's stranger inhabitants. The 66-Day Countdown pressures every choice Soul makes inside this faction map, because every detour costs days that he cannot afford to spend.
Scope Note
This article covers only factions that appear in Phantom Blade Zero itself. Factions and organisations that only existed in the 2022 Phantom Blade: Executioners mobile predecessor or earlier S-GAME projects are mentioned only when this game has explicitly confirmed they carry over.
