Initial article on mining and crafting systems
Mining and crafting are core resource-gathering and creation systems in Petit Planet. Players break rocks to collect ores and minerals, gather wood and other raw materials, and use crafting stations to produce furniture, tools, and decorative items for their planet. These activities contribute to Luca generation and support planet customization.
Players smash rocks found across their planet using a pickaxe or similar tool. Rocks yield ores, stone, gems, and occasionally rare minerals. Different rock types produce different materials, and some deposits only appear in certain biomes or after specific Luca milestones.
Beyond mining, players gather wood from trees, shells from beaches, and fibers from plants. Specialized tools like shellfish tongs and bug nets expand the range of gatherable items. Gathering is low-energy and can supplement mining during energy-scarce periods.
Crafting stations allow players to combine raw materials into finished goods. Furniture, decorations, clothing, and tools can all be crafted. Recipes are unlocked through progression, Neighbor quests, and Starsea Voyage discoveries. Each crafted item has specific material requirements.
Category | Examples |
|---|---|
Furniture | Tables, chairs, beds, shelves, lamps |
Decorations | Sculptures, planters, rugs, wall art |
Tools | Upgraded pickaxes, fishing rods, bug nets, shellfish tongs |
Clothing | Hats, outfits, accessories |
Mining consumes energy from the player's daily pool. Larger rocks and harder materials cost more energy to break. Players balance mining time against farming, fishing, and other daily activities.
