Lady Oni

Lady Oni is one of the confirmed allied characters in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Rather than a separate companion walking next to Musashi Miyamoto, she lives inside his Oni Gauntlet and speaks to him from within it. She is the voice the gauntlet uses to communicate with its bearer.

Role

Capcom's team-framing puts her in the raw-power role of the allied cast, complementing the magic brought by Ono No Takamura and the eccentricity of Izumo No Okuni. She is a confirmed Oni rather than a human, which makes her the most literal expression of the demonic-yet-protective framing the series has always used for the Oni themselves.

Guiding Musashi

The Tokyo Game Show 2025 story trailer shows Lady Oni guiding Musashi to Ono No Takamura, the old master swordsman who also wears a gauntlet. Her in-gauntlet voice is effectively his narrative compass during the opening stretch of the story. She is curt with him when he tries to probe her identity, refusing to be called Gauntlet Lady and pushing back on his questions rather than explaining herself.

Outside the Gauntlet

Trailers have shown her able to manifest outside the gauntlet when the situation calls for it, which gives Capcom a way to bring her into cutscenes and set-pieces rather than keeping her as a disembodied voiceover for the whole game.
