Comprehensive character update with Power Word system, combat abilities, and awakening details
Baicang is an S-Rank Incantation Esper and the Captain of ETD-4 in Neverness to Everness. He wields the Power of Words as his weapon, manifesting abstract linguistic concepts into physical reality. His birthday is November 23.
Baicang is affiliated with ETD-4, a squad within the Bureau of Anomaly Control. Despite his leadership position, Baicang presents himself as a laidback troublemaker who avoids taking things too seriously. However, when situations demand it, he proves surprisingly reliable and capable.
Baicang leads ETD-4 with a loose management style that belies his genuine competence. His ability to manifest abstract concepts into reality through linguistic power makes him one of the most unique Espers in the Bureau. His combat style fuses mage-like incantations with martial arts, creating a hybrid approach that keeps enemies guessing.
Under Baicang's command, ETD-4 has become one of the Bureau's most effective squads, with members including Lacrimosa, Skia, and Fadia. Each member brings a distinct specialty, and Baicang's leadership, while unconventional, keeps the team cohesive during high-stakes Anomaly operations.
Baicang's combat system revolves around three types of Power Words: Bless, Curse, and Objurgate. These words are generated through his attacks and skills, then consumed for enhanced effects. His ultimate creates a damage domain that empowers all Power Word usage and introduces an execution mechanic.
Baicang generates Power Words through combat. Each word type has distinct effects that change depending on whether his ultimate domain is active:
Power Word | Generation | Domain Effect |
|---|---|---|
Bless | Every 3 basic attack hits (max 3 stacks, 15s duration). Each costs 3% current HP (halved below 30% HP). | Single-target damage + restores 2.5% of Baicang's max HP. |
Curse | Generated by Cursed Thoughts (single-target skill variant). | High single-target damage. |
Objurgate | Generated by Such Crime (AoE skill variant). | Area-of-effect damage. |
Ability | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
Basic Attack | Walk the Talk | Performs up to 5 martial arts strikes. Every 3 hits generates a "Bless" Power Word (max 3, lasting 15 seconds). Each Bless stack costs 3% of current HP, halved when below 30% HP. |
Skill (Multi) | Generous Guidance | Multi-trigger skill with three variants: Cursed Thoughts (single-target Incantation DMG, generates "Curse"), Such Crime (AoE Incantation DMG, generates "Objurgate"), and Heart of Heaven and Earth (convergent ley line attack). |
Ultimate | Where Words Sprout, Fall Unfolds | Creates a damage domain. Activates "Execution" when target HP falls below 10% (5% for bosses). Grants a one-time fatal damage immunity. Power Words gain enhanced effects within the domain. |
QTE | Break Time Over | Fires a compressed incantation dealing area Incantation DMG and generating a random "Curse" or "Objurgate" Power Word. |
Passive 1 | Moderate Mischief | During his ultimate, applies additional Scorch stacks to enemies that are already afflicted with Scorch. |
Passive 2 | Moderate Working | Grants +20% ATK. Also provides ETD-4 team synergies: triggers Skia's stealth ability, activates Fadia's protection when below 20% HP, and enhances Lacrimosa's bat form mobility. |
Node | Effect |
|---|---|
A1 | +30% DMG on the next skill cast when consuming a Curse Power Word. -5 seconds on skill cooldown when consuming an Objurgate Power Word. |
A5 | Ultimate domain duration extended to 20 seconds. |
A6 | +30% CRT rate while inside the ultimate domain. |
Bonus 2 | +20% ATK for the entire team while within Baicang's domain. |
Baicang's Power Word system is inspired by the concept of kotodama, the Japanese belief that words carry spiritual power.
His Moderate Working passive creates direct mechanical synergies with three other ETD-4 members, encouraging players to build a full ETD-4 team composition.
The Execution mechanic on his ultimate makes him exceptionally strong against boss enemies, functioning as a finisher when targets drop to low HP.
Despite being the captain, Baicang's laidback personality often leads to comedic misunderstandings about the chain of command within ETD-4.
