Expanded with bond levels, companion interactions, City Tycoon integration, and launch improvements
The Affinity System is a companion relationship mechanic in Neverness to Everness that allows players to build bonds with characters. As affinity increases, new interactions and features unlock, culminating in the ability to invite companions to accompany the player around Hethereau.
Players increase affinity (bond level) with characters through various interactions within the game. Once affinity reaches sufficient levels, characters become available as active companions in the open world.
At higher bond levels (bond level 4+), a range of companion activities become available:
Interaction | Description |

Walking Together | Companions walk alongside the player through Hethereau's streets. |
Hand-Holding | Hold hands while walking through town. First-person perspective available for this interaction at launch. |
Rock-Paper-Scissors | A casual mini-game interaction with companions. |
Ear Cleaning | An intimate care interaction with companions. |
Apartment Decoration | Decorate apartments together with placed companions. |
The Affinity System ties into the City Tycoon business empire system. Characters with bond level 4+ can be placed into properties such as apartments, businesses, and houses. Reaching City Tycoon Level 18 unlocks the S-Class character Chiz.
The Launch Roadmap confirms several affinity system improvements: Chiz will become invitable as a companion, expanded companion interactions will be added, first-person perspective for hand-holding will be available, new spontaneous city encounters will occur, and additional invitable characters will join the roster.
