Building System
October 16, 2026 at 07:03 PM
Initial version (2026-10-16)
The building system lets players of Monster Hunter Outlanders construct facilities in the field on Aesoland. It was one of the features the producer listed alongside Adventurers, buddies and original monsters when the launch date was announced in September 2026, and the game's other systems are covered on the Gameplay page. Facilities change how a region can be crossed and approached, and official material states that using them can surface special items and clues tied to an assignment.
Building consumes materials gathered in the field. Trees are chopped and ore is mined to obtain them, and the Build button spends those materials to place a facility. Facilities must be placed on flat, suitable ground.
Three traversal facilities were described for the first closed beta.
Facility | Function |
|---|---|
Catapult | Launches an Adventurer in a chosen direction to cover large distances quickly |
Wind Platform | Uses wind power to lift an Adventurer into the air and reach higher ground |
Zip Line | Links uneven or distant points with a wire for crossing difficult terrain |
Further facilities include mini camps and automatic gathering facilities, which make collecting resources more convenient. A build menu shown in pre-alpha footage for the first closed beta also lists a Ballista, an Item Box, BBQ Spits and a Camp, though none of these has been described in text.
Each area has a watchtower. Raising a watchtower's level increases the rewards it gives and the number of facilities that can be built in its area, which ties building capacity to progress through each region.
Building is part of tracking rather than a separate activity. Facilities let Adventurers engage with the wilderness from different angles, so the clue trail described on the Hunting Loop page is not always at ground level. The Rutaco, one of the three buddy types and a species native to Aesoland, is described as adept at using tools and crafting devices, which places building inside the setting. The Tokyo Game Show 2026 trailer shows an Adventurer moving between areas with the help of a gliding challenge and a wind-blowing facility.
