Monster Fantasy is built around a large community of villagers, and the studio Jotoyo has been careful about how it describes their dialogue. The core NPC dialogue in the game is a complete set that the team has written by hand, without using AI. Separately from that, Jotoyo is experimenting with an optional feature powered by AI large language models that would let players talk freely with the Villagers they like in the Kingdom of Eldoras.
The traditional game content does not rely on AI. Jotoyo has stated that it carefully crafted a complete set of NPC dialogue without the use of AI, so the full single-player experience is authored in the usual way. Any AI conversation sits on top of that written foundation rather than replacing it, which means the story and the scripted character moments do not depend on a language model being present.
Alongside the hand-written script, the studio is testing a feature that uses AI large language models to let players converse freely with their favorite villagers. Jotoyo calls this exploratory. It exists entirely separately from the traditional content, and the studio says it will not affect the complete single-player experience. The goal is to offer an extra way to interact with the community of around 100 villagers, each of whom has a distinct personality, rather than to replace the written dialogue that already ships with the game.
Because the feature is still an experiment, several points remain open. Jotoyo has said that whether the AI conversation feature will be included in the final release has not yet been decided. Even if it does ship, the studio says it will be optional rather than required, so players who prefer the standard written dialogue can leave it turned off. Earlier announcement coverage presented the villagers as driven by AI and text-to-speech, but the studio has since described the system more cautiously: a fully hand-written script first, with optional AI conversation as an experiment layered on top.
Monster Fantasy has not released yet, and a Kickstarter campaign is scheduled for July 15, 2026, so the studio is still sharing details. The confirmed position today is that the core villager dialogue is written by hand, and the AI-powered conversation option may or may not appear in the finished game. This page will be updated as Jotoyo confirms more.
