Notable Trait | A cyborg who has lost his memories |

Goal | Uncover the truth about himself |
Trey is an amnesiac cyborg. He embarks on a journey across Talea, hoping to uncover the truth about who he is, and quickly discovers an unusual affinity for Animon and a strange familiarity with the Holoken that every Lumen carries. Along the way he is mentored in the ways of the Lumen by Max, learning to catch and battle Animon.
Trey is a set character with a pre-determined backstory, so there is no full character creation. At the very start of the game you take a short personality test, and you also choose a name that is used for the game's online functionality. Trey himself, his look, and his story are fixed.
Trey's lost past is the engine of the story. The game's title, the recurring theme of memory, and items such as Memostones in the launch-window bonus all tie back to his search. As he travels, he both recovers old memories and forms new bonds. See Story and Setting.
Trey's relationship with his Animon is central to the game. He begins with a Starter Animon and is temporarily given a Lampecko early on, then builds a team as he explores. See Monster Taming and Bonding.
Trey's story begins when he is discovered unconscious in the Scarlet Woods by Ales, who brings him to the laboratory of the researcher Kapan. Waking with no memory of who he is, Trey learns about the Lumen and the Animon they bond with, and feels a strange sense of familiarity with the Holoken. That pull leads him to become a Lumen himself and set out across Talea in search of the truth about his past.
Trey's early hours move through a chain of main quests in and around Iris Hamlet and the Scarlet Woods:
Quest | What Happens |
|---|---|
Trey finds Ales in southern Iris Hamlet, protects him from a horde of wild Animon during the Holoken tutorial, then chooses and receives his Starter Animon the next morning. | |
Trey helps the people of Iris Hamlet, takes on the Rubbish Rascals task against Smellwing and the leader Toxigall in the Scarlet Woods, meets Max, then faces the dangerous Iotamor in his first boss battle. Winning grants the Holoken the power to infuse it with Geo | |
Trey returns to a ruined Iris Hamlet, is faced with the choice to save Kapan from a collapsing building, then battles the boss Pymant at the town center. | |
Trey meets Julia, who offers to help him become a full-fledged Lumen, gives him a Lumen Crest and a Lumen Management Device (LMD), and asks whether he wants to head to Logos (north) or Mythos (south) first. |
His first acquired traversal ability, Geo power for the Holoken, immediately matters: he uses it to smash the boulder that earlier blocked a path and open a shortcut back to Iris Hamlet.
After Out of Ideas, Trey's choice between Logos and Mythos decides which region he explores first, which bosses he fights first, and which Animon he can access early. The choice does not lock out the other region. Several of Trey's later decisions, such as whether to save Kapan, also feed into the story's multiple endings. See List of Choices.
