This page covers the input options for Huaxia: Warring States in the current Early Access build. The exact key labels and default bindings shift between updates as systems are renamed or replaced; the structural notes below are stable, and the in-game options menu is the live source of truth for the bindings on your build.
Supported Input
Input | Coverage |
|---|---|
Keyboard and mouse | Full coverage. The default control scheme assumes a standard 104-key keyboard and a two-button mouse with a scroll wheel. Most actions can be rebound from the in-game options. |
Gamepad | Partial coverage during Early Access, expanding patch by patch. Common controllers are detected and produce a working in-game scheme; some menus and complex strategic-battle commands may still be easier with keyboard and mouse. |
Touchscreen | Not officially supported. Players running the game on a Windows tablet or handheld report functional but awkward results. |
Categories of Bindings
The control scheme separates inputs into roughly six categories. Each category has its own page in the in-game options menu, where bindings can be reviewed and changed.
Movement and camera. Walk, sprint, sneak, jump, mount, dismount, swim, and the world camera. Some bindings change context when the character is mounted, riding a wagon, or in a tight interior.
Combat. Light attack, heavy attack, parry, dodge, ranged aim, weapon swap, and martial-art special. The combat system leans on parry-and-counter timing rather than free chaining.
Strategic battles. Unit selection, group commands, formation changes, and direct command. Strategic battles are far easier with a keyboard and mouse during Early Access; gamepad parity is a stated goal.
Interactions. Talk, gather, loot, examine, and trade. Most interactions use a single button with the option in a context menu.
Map and journal. Open and close the world map, journal, character sheet, retainer roster, clan management, and homestead screens. The world map is one of the most-used screens; learn its hot key first.
System. Save, load, settings, screenshot, and exit. Manual save is one of the most useful binds in the early game.
Recommended Bindings for New Players
Most defaults are sensible. Two changes are worth considering on a first run:
Bind manual save to a single comfortable key. Save before duels, sieges, and entering secret realms, and use the bind often.
Bind the world map and journal to keys you can reach without taking your hand off movement. The world map is the most-used screen in long sessions.
Accessibility
In-game accessibility options expand patch by patch during Early Access. Currently expected coverage includes subtitle visibility settings, control sensitivity adjustments, and rebind support for almost every action. Players who need a specific accessibility option are invited to leave feedback through the in-game feedback option or in the official community channels.
Performance Notes Tied to Input
Some input issues turn out to be performance issues. If actions feel mistimed during sieges or in crowded cities, check whether the frame rate is dropping. The system requirements page covers the current minimum and recommended hardware. Strategic battles at large unit counts are the most input-sensitive scene type.
Reporting Control Bugs
If a binding stops responding, a button is missing from a menu, or a remap does not stick across save loads, the issue can be reported through the in-game feedback option or the official community channels. Useful reports include the controller model when relevant, the operating system, the build version on the title screen, and a description of when the issue occurs.
