The Dream Realm event for Dongfang Yao is one of four hero-themed Dream Realms confirmed active at the Season 0 launch of Honor of Kings: World on April 10, 2026. It pairs Dongfang Yao's arc of resisting inner demons with a boss challenge called Crimson Divine Beast (猩红神兽), which was first opened during the Cloud Honor of Kings: World preview period and then carried into the live S0 build as the flagship Dream Realm combat content for the Child of the Stars (星辰之子) Resonance.

Participation happens through two linked surfaces: the in-client Dream Realm entry accessible after clearing the Chapter 3 main-story milestone that unlocks Dongfang Yao as a Resonance, and the external Breaking Foes, Dispelling Shadows (破敌灭影) campaign page hosted. Rewards earned in either surface deposit back to the same player account, which is why the homepage of Dongfang Yao's Dream Realm under the Reservation Rewards column with the direct tagline "挑战猩红神兽 赢专属称号" (Challenge the Crimson Divine Beast, Win an Exclusive Title).

Overview

Dream Realm is the umbrella name Tencent uses for hero-themed limited-time events in Honor of Kings: World. Each Dream Realm is built around a single Resonance from the launch roster and pulls together a themed boss, a cosmetic track, and a reward list that ties back to that Resonance's story beats. Dongfang Yao's Dream Realm centers on the moment when Dongfang Yao completes the Star Awakening (星辰觉醒) main-story beat and masters the full power of the stars, and its combat content uses the Crimson Divine Beast boss that was featured in Cloud Honor of Kings: World during the preview window before the April 10 PC launch.

Because the event bridges a pre-launch campaign and the live game, a player who completed the Cloud Honor of Kings: World challenge before April 10 starts the Dream Realm with some rewards already claimed in their inventory, while a new S0 player can complete the same encounters inside the live client and catch up. The homepage of tags the event as 现已开启 (now open), confirming it is active at launch alongside the Dream Realms for Sun BinMaster Lu Banand Meng Ya. Xi Shi's Dream Realm, which used the pre-launch nickname registration page, had already ended before the April 12 audit of the homepage.

Event Mechanics

The core activity is a repeatable boss fight against the Crimson Divine Beast, which Tencent's preview copy described as a monster inspired by the red buff from the original Honor of Kings MOBA. The fight runs in two difficulty layers, each with its own reward hook.

• Normal mode (普通模式): a standard party-friendly clear that is the baseline path. Finishing it grants the themed avatar Soft and Chewy Escort: Dongfang Yao (软糯随行·东方曜), one of the mascot-series avatars tied to each Dream Realm hero.

• Berserk mode (狂暴模式): a hard-difficulty clear that gates the S-tier exclusive title I'll Take the Red, Thanks (我拿红, 谢谢). The title is a direct reference to the way Dongfang Yao players call out for the red buff in MOBA games, and Tencent specifically brands it as a rare badge for players who beat Berserk mode.

• Exclusive bundle (破敌灭影 campaign): on top of the two mode-specific rewards, completing the campaign grants the Crimson Divine Beast spirit companion (唤灵·猩红神兽) and the Breaking Foes, Dispelling Shadows title, both of which Tencent calls out as cosmetics of the event.

Dongfang Yao himself is not a gacha pull. Per the S0 launch guides, Dongfang Yao is unlocked for free by clearing Chapter 3 of the main story, which also opens the Star Awakening memory dungeon. The Dream Realm event therefore does not change hero ownership: it is purely a cosmetic and prestige track layered on top of story-driven hero acquisition, in line with the game's published rule that there is no hero gacha.

Rewards

The table below lists the rewards that are specifically tied to the Dongfang Yao Dream Realm track, separated from the general launch-period login rewards that every S0 player receives.

The S0 Activity Calendar also specifically lists the Dongfang Yao Resonance itself as a free Awakening reward during the launch window, alongside Xi Shi and Meng Ya. That means the Dream Realm event runs in parallel with a second, unrelated track that grants the Resonance for free to every new player, and the two tracks do not compete for the same currency.

Duration and Schedule

The Cloud Honor of Kings: World preview that first opened the Crimson Divine Beast encounter went live on March 28, 2026. That pre-launch version used the Berserk-mode clear to gate an S-tier title, and the challenge stayed open through the PC launch on April 10, 2026. The homepage of still marks Dongfang Yao's Dream Realm as active as of April 12, 2026, which means the event at minimum runs through the S0 opening window and is treated as part of the launch welfare package rather than a retention event for later in the season.

Tencent has not posted a firm end date on the public status page. The S0 Activity Calendar template shows every launch activity with placeholder dates (月日 / 月日), and the most recently dated source, the April 10 launch-day coverage confirms the event is still open without quoting a close date. Players should plan to complete both Normal and Berserk clears before the S0 season ends to guarantee they lock in the title and the spirit companion.

Tips and Strategy

The Crimson Divine Beast fight is tuned as a team-friendly encounter on Normal and a gear-check on Berserk. Player reports from the cloud-preview window and the early PC launch converge on a handful of useful adjustments.

• Bring a burst Resonance. Dongfang Yao's own kit in Honor of Kings: World translates his MOBA jump-mark directly into an air-dash, so the fastest runs pair him with a second power-attack Resonance that can spike damage during the boss's stationary phases. Sun Bin is a popular partner because his Resonance banks ultimate charge for whoever holds the other slot.

• Finish Normal before Berserk. The Normal-mode clear is what grants the avatar, and it also acts as the prerequisite scripted encounter that introduces the Berserk-mode mechanics. Attempting Berserk cold without the Normal clear is possible but wastes attempts.

• Cloud-preview progress carries over. Players who played the March 28 cloud preview and linked the same QQ or WeChat account keep their reward claims. If you already own the Soft and Chewy Escort: Dongfang Yao avatar, the in-game counter shows the Normal-mode step as completed on first login.

• Do not conflate this event with hero unlock. Dongfang Yao as a playable Resonance comes from the Chapter 3 main-story reward, not from this Dream Realm. A new account can unlock the hero first and then come back for the cosmetics at any point before the S0 calendar closes.

Dongfang Yao's Story Connection

Tencent's own materials describe the Star Awakening sequence that the Dream Realm references as a story beat where the player witnesses Dongfang Yao confront his inner demon Yun Sheng (云狌) and lock in the full form of his star power, represented in combat by his signature Child of the Stars Resonance moveset. The Crimson Divine Beast in the event is conceptually a stand-in for the red buff of the original MOBA, which is one of the reasons the exclusive title quips "I'll Take the Red, Thanks." The event therefore doubles as a lore-aware callback and as a MOBA fan-service nod for veteran Honor of Kings players arriving from the mobile game.

Monetization Notes

Nothing in the Dream Realm track requires either premium currency (璇晶) or the free-to-play soft currency (晶珀). All rewards confirmed by current community data. This is the intended design for the launch Dream Realms: they sit outside the Heavenly Reward banner and outside the broader Gacha and Pity System.
