Added launch details for Advanced Shader Delivery, RTX Mega Geometry's memory requirement, DLSS 4.5 multipliers, Reflex and cloud play, plus new frame rate settings and PC known issues
11Gears of War: E-Day is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, and is being optimised across a broad range of PC hardware. NVIDIA is the exclusive PC partner, announced on July 14, 2026, working with the studio on GeForce RTX integration, performance optimisation and launch support. The hardware floor is on System Requirements. Material published through the game's PC technology partnership gives the engine version as Unreal Engine 5.8; the studio's own material names Unreal Engine 5 without a point release.2233Upscaling and Latency4455TechnologyDetailNVIDIA DLSS 4.5Integrated with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super ResolutionNVIDIA ReflexIntegrated for reduced latency and input responsivenessAMD FSRSupported. Dynamic Multi Frame Generation lets GeForce RTX 50 Series cards run up to 6X frame generation, or adjust the multiplier on the fly to hit a frame rate target the player sets. NVIDIA reports that Reflex cut PC latency by up to 50 percent in its campaign benchmark. Those figures come from the hardware partner's own testing.7+68Advanced Shader Delivery798-Advanced Shader Delivery ships precompiled shaders alongside the game, which cuts load times and removes first-run shader stutter on compatible systems. It is available across supported PC storefronts, initially the Microsoft Store and the Xbox PC app, with broader hardware and storefront support planned to expand over time.10+Advanced Shader Delivery ships precompiled shaders alongside the game, which cuts load times and removes first-run shader stutter on compatible systems. It is available across supported PC storefronts, initially the Microsoft Store and the Xbox PC app, with broader hardware and storefront support planned to expand over time. At launch it is supported on AMD hardware, with NVIDIA support due later in October 2026. Players who run the game outside the Xbox PC app can still benefit if the app is installed on a Windows 11 PC, because the required shaders can then be pre-installed.9111012Rendering11131214FeatureDetailHardware ray tracingReflections, shadows and global illumination, as listed on the final launch specification sheet. It ships with the game on October 6, 2026.17+Gears of War: E-Day is the debut title for RTX Mega Geometry. It became available with early access on October 1, 2026, and enabling it requires a GeForce RTX GPU with at least 12 GB of video memory.16181719The problem it solves is specific to Unreal Engine 5. Nanite scales geometric detail automatically, which is what lets a city be built out of unique geometry instead of repeated props. Switch ray tracing on, though, and Nanite objects fall back to a single static low-detail mesh, because building acceleration structures over full Nanite geometry is prohibitively expensive with the DXR 1.2 and Vulkan interfaces that came before it. The object on screen still looks fully detailed while the shadow or reflection it casts is computed from the simplified version, and that mismatch is where the missing shadows and the visual discontinuities come from.18201921RTX Mega Geometry ray-traces the Nanite geometry at full detail instead. Shadows land correctly on small objects such as rocks and debris that previously got the wrong shadow or none at all, and reflections show the detailed geometry rather than the simplified mesh. The largest gain is in motion, where ray-traced shadows and reflections could previously flicker or otherwise artifact as the player or the camera moved.20222123The technique is set to be folded into Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard, which would make ray-traced Nanite available to Unreal Engine 5 games generally rather than to this one title. NVIDIA puts six years of research and development behind the solution.22242325The comparison footage the studio and its PC partner published was captured on this configuration.24262527SettingValueGPUGeForce RTX 5090Output4K, Ultra settingsGeometryRTX Mega Geometry enabledUpscalingDLSS 4.5 with Ray ReconstructionLightingRay tracing enabled26-Cloud streaming carries the same feature set. DLSS 4.5, ray tracing and RTX Mega Geometry are all stated to be available when the game is streamed rather than run on local hardware.28+The game can also be streamed through an Ultimate GeForce NOW membership from launch. In its October 1, 2026 launch article, NVIDIA said DLSS 4.5, ray tracing and RTX Mega Geometry are coming to the streamed version soon, so they should not be assumed to be there on day one; an earlier announcement had described them as available when streaming.27292830Display and Input293130-Display modes: borderless, exclusive fullscreen and windowed.Frame rates: uncapped on capable hardware.Ultrawide: 21:9 and 32:9 support for both gameplay and menus.Remapping: full keyboard, mouse and controller remapping, detailed on Settings and Controls.Benchmark: a benchmark mode is built into the game.32+Display modes: borderless, exclusive fullscreen and windowed.Frame rates: uncapped on capable hardware. The same menu exposes an Eco Mode aimed at handheld battery life and an Idle Timeout, plus an indicator for whether 120 Hz output is detected. Console targets 4K and up to 60 frames per second with a compatible display.35373638Anti-Cheat and Account Requirements37393840The game uses anti-cheat software on PC. An Xbox or Microsoft account is not required to play on Steam, but linking one is required to send cross-platform squad invites, and optional linking also enables roaming saves. Player counts are on Co-Op and Split-Screen.39414042Beta-Era Driver Notes41434244During the Open Beta the stated minimum drivers were AMD 26.7.1, Intel 101.8864 and NVIDIA 610.74 or newer, with the game refusing to launch on older NVIDIA drivers. Frame generation was disabled and the framerate was capped at 150 frames per second, both stated as temporary and absent from the final game. Those figures describe the beta client, not launch.43454446Launch Specifications and Drivers45474648The final launch PC specifications, published on September 17, 2026, headline four PC features: DLSS 4.5, FSR 4 and XeSS upscaling; hardware ray-traced reflections, shadows and global illumination; a built-in benchmark mode with advanced PC settings; and HDR and ultrawide monitor support. Every tier on that sheet, from 1080p at 60 frames per second on the Medium preset to 4K at 60 or more on Ultra, assumes one of DLSS, FSR, TSR or XeSS. The full tier table is on System Requirements.47494850The gone-gold announcement also said the team had kept working on PC stability and performance across a wide range of hardware configurations since the Open Beta. On September 22, 2026 NVIDIA released its Game Ready 617.14 WHQL driver with support for the game, naming DLSS Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Reflex and RTX Mega Geometry as the features available at launch.51+52+Known Issues on PC53+54+The pre-launch notes list three PC-relevant issues at launch: the Benchmark mode performance overlay does not count generated frames, so it can report a lower frame rate than the real one; the game process can keep running after the game is closed and may need ending from Task Manager; and offline play on PC is unavailable until October 6, 2026. The same notes add an optional multi frame generation setting, fix graphics settings resetting between launches and fix missing explosion effects at Low quality. See Patch Notes.
