The desert west of the Village of Kol offers early EXP and Vision mastery training. Equip the Vision you want to develop before fighting.

These are early-area encounter rewards, not a promise that the same route stays efficient throughout the campaign. Cactuar is a rare encounter and favors mastery gains; Chimera groups are the stronger EXP targets.

Choose a sustainable route

If Chimera fights drain too many resources, use Siren's Tower instead. Its ordinary groups yield roughly 150-160 EXP. Choose fights you can repeat safely and change difficulty if necessary.

A Stagger Finish increases MRP, so try to defeat the final enemy during its stagger window. Citrine Pot and Viridian Pot are separate item-feeding encounters with large mastery rewards; follow their encounter instructions instead of attacking them.

Later EXP farming

For repeat battles, Casual lowers enemy HP without reducing EXP rewards. A win in which no party member takes damage earns 20% extra EXP. The rewards below are the listed base values, before applicable bonuses.

Metal enemies have high defenses but little HP and can flee. Try abilities that strike several times to land enough hits before they escape.

In Chapter 6, some Gronoa Shrine encounters contain three Tonberries that award 14,400 EXP together. They approach before attacking, so defeat them quickly if the party can manage the fight.
