Bartz
September 12, 2026 at 08:01 AM
Added a section recording that the official English and Japanese descriptions of his magic sword name different element sets, kept the July wording in the body, and added a How to Obtain section
Bartz is one of the legacy Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance, announced on July 16, 2026. The official character page pairs him with FINAL FANTASY V, one of sixteen numbered entries, each of which now has a named representative; the full roster is at List of Visions.

Square Enix introduces him as a young man who travels the world on his chocobo companion Boko. As a Vision he wields a sword imbued with fire and ice magic, and he can stagger foes with relative ease.
Square Enix has described the magic on Bartz's sword in more than one way, and the sets do not overlap. The July 16, 2026 information release says fire and ice in English, and fire, ice and wind in Japanese. An official Japanese Vision short published on August 15, 2026 instead names wind, lightning and earth. All three descriptions are Square Enix's own, and as of 12 September 2026 no fourth statement and no reconciliation has appeared.
What every version agrees on is the shape of the kit: Bartz carries a sword with magic on it, and he staggers foes with relative ease. The body of this page keeps the July wording because it is the one Square Enix published in English, but which elements that sword carries should be read as unsettled rather than as settled on fire and ice.
Detail | Value |
|---|---|
Origin | FINAL FANTASY V |
Elements | Fire and ice in the July 2026 English release; later official descriptions name a different set, see above |
Specialty | Staggering enemies |
Companion | Boko, his chocobo |
A strong stagger profile matters more here than it might elsewhere, because staggering every enemy in a single turn is what enables a Resonance attack.
Legacy Visions are claimed at the vision crystal sanctums erected across the world, where stepping inside lets you revisit a story from the original game before taking the crystal. Every Vision is earnable in-game; the producer said none of them is sold as DLC. Magicite gathered on the journey awakens a Vision across three stages, each stage asking a higher grade than the last, as set out at Vision Awakening. Abilities learned from him stay equippable while another Vision is active, within the cost limit described at Abilities and Mastery. For the full roster, see List of Visions.
