Nigel is the Sheriff of Silverbrook, one of the eleven major roles Playground Games named when it revealed the Fable (2027) voice cast on June 7, 2026. He is voiced by Robert Whitelock.
The Character
Craig Owens, associate narrative director on the game, described him this way: "The well-meaning Sheriff of Silverbrook is a man eternally out of his depth. Bumbling and socially anxious, he struggles to deal with all the magical threats Albion can muster alongside the villagers' disregard for him."
He is written as comedy, but the studio was explicit that the comedy has a floor. Owens on the casting: "We sought out Robert to play our hapless sheriff due to his natural ability to give humanity and depth to a character like Nigel. We knew that with Robert playing him, Nigel would never just be the butt of the joke."

Role in Silverbrook
A sheriff who cannot control his own village sits naturally alongside the Living Population system, where every adult resident has a schedule, an opinion of the player and a memory of what the player has done. The villagers' disregard for Nigel is a character note rather than a confirmed mechanic, and Playground Games has not said whether his authority interacts with the Reputation a player builds in the settlement.
Whitelock is an experienced actor and performance capture artist whose credits include a long run of audio drama work and roles in other large games. Whether Nigel gives quests, how much of the Silverbrook story he carries, and whether he can be killed like other adult residents have not been stated.
