Bella was once an elf with a withering body, like many of her kind after the elven homeland was corrupted by the abyss. By chance she absorbed the life force of a human and reclaimed the alluring physique she had long coveted. The ecstasy she felt in that moment transformed her into a bloodthirsty maniac obsessed with blood and massacre. For Bella, maintaining her beauty and committing slaughter are now one and the same.
Her duality is also reflected in her obsession with blood paired with her contempt for anything that is not silver. Every drop of blood or water that touches her fingertips transmutes into chilling silver blood, a concept that runs through every layer of her visual design.
As a Velseize elf, Bella manipulates liquids. The substance she loves most is blood, and she savors human suffering as though it were a work of art, soaking herself in blood and drawing ecstasy from absorbing the fading life of her victims. With the cold indifference typical of her kind, she views most things with detached boredom, but the sight of blood draws madness slowly across her impassive face.
After the elves first met organized resistance from the Kingdom of Aldrein and revised their initial assumption that the humans were defenseless, they feigned retreat under the cover of a peace treaty. The three-year treaty was never sincere. The elves used the window to rally their forces and quell internal strife, intending to eradicate human resistance in a single coordinated strike.
The factions remained divided. The Velseize lord, driven by the greatest urgency, chose to break ranks and strike first. Bella began her move, and the war that would shatter Goldenhaven opened.
Bella made landfall at Red Anchor Harbor in Towerstead. In the predawn hours, while the world was still asleep, she stalked through the quiet streets, staining her hands with the lifeblood of the slumbering. Twisted Corpse Flowers bloomed across the entire town, and silver blood flowed like a river through the streets.
By the time Valdemar Harborwell, Grand Lord of Goldenhaven, arrived with his knights, the massacre was already nearly over. He offered her a peace treaty. Her only response was a burst of laughter. When the rain halted in mid-air and droplets began to rise upward, Valdemar realized something was terribly wrong. But it was already too late. With a casual flick of her wrist, the soldiers were lifted into the air. Their screams mingled with Bella's laughter as they were torn apart limb from limb.
Bella had planted spies within Goldenhaven long before her arrival. At the height of the succession ceremony they flung the gates wide open for her. She stepped proudly into the heart of the city, making her presence known to all. It took seconds for the halls to be filled with blood and screams instead of cheers. Leopold's head fell, and tidal waves conjured by elven magic devoured the Goldenhaven fortress. With the Book of Rites in hand, Bella vanished into thin air. Eslyn would have been next, her life already in Bella's grip, but the player rescued her at the critical moment.
The design process for Bella centered on the juxtaposition of beauty and cruelty: a villain whose elegance makes her cruelty unforgettable. She was developed across two iterations, an early bodysuit and a dress, before the team chose the suit form because the dress limited her mobility and did not convey her silver-blood identity strongly enough.
Her visual identity is unified in striking silver. Her bodysuit is formed from absorbed blood that wraps around her like metallic veins, perfectly complementing her weapon and the ornate crown that symbolizes her authority. The final design adds mercury-like liquid metal flowing up from the ground, over her body, and forming a crown above her head.
Skill | Description |
|---|---|
Piercing Droplet | An early signature skill demonstrated in dev gameplay. Bella's basic blood manipulation, lifting liquid from the environment into precise piercing attacks. |
Silver Waltz | Bella glides across the battlefield like a dancer, transitioning from graceful movement into a sudden, sharp dash that pierces and slashes. Designed to demand instant reactions from the player and create constant pressure. |
Wave of Purification | A wide cleansing strike that washes the arena in silver. Conveys mounting pressure as Bella's corrosive silver blood encroaches on the field. |
Corpse Flower (signature) | Bella's signature ability and a vivid expression of her cruelty. Corpse Flowers bloom from the "Death Mire," formed by the grotesque clustering of human remains. Players face dual pressure: dodging Bella's direct strikes while simultaneously evading the horrific blooms rising from beneath their feet. |
Her attacks corrode the environment in silver and apply the same effect to the player on hit, creating an immersive experience of being slowly consumed by Bella's silver world over the course of the fight.
In the Steam Next Fest demo (June 15-22, 2026), Bella is the demo's centerpiece boss. The developers have said the demo Bella fight is tuned as a teaching encounter for the game's core combat systems: Spell Interruption, the Stagger System, and SP-based evasion. When players face her again later in the campaign, she will reveal her true power and deliver a battle on a completely different level.
Use Spell Interruption to break her telegraphed Wave of Purification cast windows so the silver corrosion does not blanket the arena.
Spend Stagger windows on her: when her stagger meter breaks, you have a limited burst window for your highest-damage skills.
Manage your SP for evading Silver Waltz lunges and the Corpse Flower blooms; her arena pressure forces you to dodge two threats simultaneously.
Keep moving. Silver Waltz transitions from graceful glides to sudden dashes; standing still inside her preferred range will get you cut.
Bella is the personal face of the elven invasion. She killed Valdemar, severed Leopold's head, took the Book of Rites, and would have killed Eslyn next. The player's revenge against her is one of the campaign's primary emotional throughlines. Defeating the demo version of Bella is meant to teach the player the combat verbs they will need against everything the Velseize lord sends next.
