Goldenhaven

Goldenhaven is the wealthy port city that served as the seat of House Harborwell before the elven invasion. Perched at the edge of the Valdorion Peninsula with the vast ocean at its back, Goldenhaven was the central pillar of the pro-monarchy faction in the Kingdom of Aldrein and, until the day the Phoenix banner fell into flames, the most prosperous port in the realm.

Before the Fall

Goldenhaven was a wealthy port city where countless trade routes converged. Waterways flowing from the sea cut deep into the fortress, winding through the village, the halls, and the main castle. Gold-adorned towers and soaring rooftops pierced the sky, and the city was long known to the kingdom as the Port Blessed by Gold.

At the heart of that prosperity stood House Harborwell. As a collateral branch of the royal family, the Harborwells led the pro-monarchy lords with their potent bloodline magic and generations of accumulated wealth and honor. They were the strongest pillar supporting the throne, and Goldenhaven was the seat from which that pillar was held aloft.

The Elven Strike

Because of Harborwell's central role in propping up the throne, the Velseize elves targeted the family first. Lord Valdemar fell to an elven scheme at Red Anchor Harbor in Towerstead, and within days the Goldenhaven fortress, the very site of the succession ceremony, crumbled overnight under a sudden assault.

Bella had already planted spies within Goldenhaven. At the height of the succession ceremony they flung the gates wide open for her, and she stepped proudly into the heart of the city. It took seconds for the halls to be filled with blood and screams. Leopold's head fell, and tidal waves conjured by elven magic devoured the Goldenhaven fortress. With the Book of Rites in hand, Bella vanished into thin air.

After the Fall

With Goldenhaven fallen, there remained nothing to halt the elven advance. The relentless march of the elves now sweeps through the entire kingdom. The player returns from a mercenary life to find their home in ruins, their brothers dead, and the family seat unrecognizable. The player's campaign begins from a humble camp built in the shadow of the fallen city and grows as the player rebuilds the settlement and reclaims surrounding domains from the elven occupiers.
