Towns and cities are spread across the regions of Pywel and serve as the main hubs for commerce, quests, and social interaction. Each settlement has its own character, from desert oases to the cliffside cities of Hernand. Expect bustling markets, working craftsmen, and plenty of locals going about their daily routines.
Most towns offer these services:

Blacksmiths forge weapons and armor on demand. When you buy a weapon, the blacksmith actually hammers it out at the anvil; switch to armor and they change their process accordingly. Blacksmiths can also upgrade your existing gear to improve its stats.

The simplest way to buy weapons. Equipment shops stock a selection of ready-made weapons you can purchase outright without a forging process.
Tailors sell armor and outfits. They're the armor equivalent of equipment shops, offering pre-made pieces in a small selection. For custom looks, visit a dye station (see character customization).
General merchants buy and sell a wide range of goods including provisions, cooking ingredients, alchemy materials, and other supplies. Trading menus list items like barley, meat jerky, salt-grilled fish, and fruit juice.
Adjust hairstyles, beards, tattoos, and hair color. See character customization for the full list of options.
Color your armor, weapons, and mount equipment. Dyes can also be brewed via alchemy and applied here.

Town residents have requests for travelers passing through. These side quests unfold alongside each region's main storylines and give a window into everyday life in Pywel. Common quest types include:
Protecting residents from bandits
Delivering goods between locations
Tracking down missing persons
Scouting an area
See Faction quests for more on the quest system.

Beyond shopping and quests, towns have diversions you can spend time on. You might stumble into fistfights in a mud pit, arm wrestling contests, or local gambling games. Spend time soaking in the atmosphere, eavesdropping on rumor-sharing locals, and meeting the residents.
Towns have a law system. Stealing, pickpocketing, or attacking civilians will turn guards hostile and put a bounty on your head. Be mindful of your actions in populated areas unless you're prepared for the consequences.
