New article: Serpent Shrine location guide with boss encounters and scale collection
The Serpent Shrine is a secret endgame location in Crimson Desert, situated on an island at the southwestern tip of the Deleysia region within the Dewhaven Territory. The shrine is home to Aeserion, a colossal serpent god that is central to the Shackled God faction quest line. It is also the only location in the game where players can collect Aeserion's Scales, the final material required for maximum gear refinement.
When you first arrive at the Serpent Shrine, the area is filled with chaotic activity. Scales are scattered across the shrine and can be collected freely using Axiom Force and the Kuku Seal. Players do not need to engage in any boss fight to gather scales, making the shrine accessible as a farming location even before completing its associated quest content.
The Serpent Shrine sits on the far southern coast of Deleysia, on a coastal island in the Dewhaven Territory. It can be reached once you have progressed far enough in the story to access the Deleysia region. The shrine appears on the world map and can be fast-traveled to after your first visit.
Detail | Information |
|---|---|
Region | Deleysia (Dewhaven Territory) |
Position | Southwestern tip of the coast |
Accessibility | Available after reaching Deleysia |
Fast Travel | Yes, after first visit |
Associated Faction | Deleysia faction |
Quest Line | Shackled God (Aeserion the Great Serpent) |
The primary reason most players visit the Serpent Shrine is to collect Aeserion's Scales. Scales appear as pentagon-shaped icons on the minimap and are scattered throughout the shrine grounds. A typical visit yields around 50 scales, which is generally more than enough to fully upgrade all of your equipment. Use Axiom Force (L3) to grapple a scale, then press Y/Triangle to seal it into your Kuku Iron Pot.
Collecting scales does not require completing any quest or defeating any boss. You can enter the shrine, gather scales, and leave at your leisure.
Hidden on the southern cliffside of the Serpent Shrine island, tucked behind a partially concealed rock formation, is a golden treasure chest containing the Aeserion's Gear Blueprint. This is a book with 10 pages, and each page teaches the recipe for a different weapon from the Aeserion set. You must flip through and read every single page to learn all 10 recipes.
The chest's location is easy to miss because it is tucked behind environmental clutter. The area is also dangerous, so approach with caution. Players who acquire the Force Bomb upgrade later in the story can use it to clear corruption obstacles near the chest, but the chest itself can be reached without it.
The 10 Aeserion weapon blueprints teach the following recipes. Each weapon requires platinum (obtained through alchemy) and other rare crafting materials including Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Bismuth Ore, and Aeserion's Scales.
Weapon | Type |
|---|---|
Aeserion Sword | One-Handed Sword |
Aeserion Dagger | Dagger |
Aeserion Bow | Bow |
Aeserion Mace | Mace |
Aeserion Halberd | Halberd |
Aeserion Greataxe | Great Axe |
Aeserion Spear | Spear |
Aeserion Longsword | Longsword |
Aeserion Warhammer | Warhammer |
Aeserion Greathammer | Greathammer |
Platinum is one of the most difficult materials to produce, requiring extensive alchemy work and rare ingredients. Players should be prepared for a significant material grind before they can craft the full Aeserion weapon set.
The Serpent Shrine is the central hub for the Shackled God faction quest, which is part of the Deleysia faction's quest chain. Speaking with Aeserion at the shrine initiates the quest, in which the serpent god asks Kliff to hunt down three corrupted Ancients that have gone rogue. These three bosses are:
Priscus the Ancient (Spire of Ringing Truth, Pailune region)
Praevus the Ancient (Abyss Debris, west of Tommaso)
Primus the Ancient (Arrowhead Rock / Daggerhead Monolith, north of Serpent Shrine)
After defeating all three Ancients, the quest returns to the Serpent Shrine for the final encounter: cleansing corruption from Aeserion's body. This requires the upgraded Force Palm ability obtained during Chapter 9.
Completing the Shackled God quest line clears the Serpent Shrine of its active hazards and corruption. The shrine becomes a calmer environment afterward, making subsequent visits to collect scales safer and more convenient.
After the quest is complete, the Serpent Shrine Exploration repeatable activity also becomes available. This costs a small amount of resources to activate and generates additional Aeserion's Scales without requiring you to travel to the shrine in person.
Completing the Shackled God quest line rewards the player with the Aeserion Sword, a one-handed sword with +22 Attack, level 5 base refinement, and three Abyss Gear sockets. The sword has a distinctive golden appearance by default, though it can be dyed using the dye system. This is the only Aeserion weapon that does not need to be crafted; it is given as a direct quest reward.
