Serpent Marsh is an island located to the south of the Demeniss region in Pywel. This marshy, waterlogged area is significant as the home of Lyselia, the Witch of Humility, who resides in a hidden cave on the island. Players visit Serpent Marsh as part of their journey to locate the witches of Pywel and gain access to Abyss Core services.
Serpent Marsh is situated south of the Demeniss mainland. The island features a teleporter (Abyss Nexus) relatively close to Lyselia's cave, making return visits straightforward once the area has been initially discovered. Players will naturally visit this area during Chapter 9 of the main story.
Lyselia, the Witch of Humility, is one of several witches scattered across Pywel. Like other witches, she provides Abyss Core and Abyss Gear services, allowing players to extract, embed, and create cores. Her cave entrance is located between two mountains, close to an Abyss Nexus. Colorful flags inside the cave mark the path leading to Lyselia.
To reach Lyselia's cave, travel to the southern part of Demeniss and cross to Serpent Marsh island. Look for the cave entrance between two mountains near an Abyss Nexus. Follow the colorful flags inside the cave to find Lyselia. This area becomes accessible during Chapter 9 of the main storyline.
Serpent Marsh also contains a hidden weapon called the Eastern Witch's Fan. This weapon is tucked away behind a destructible barrier in a narrow canyon on the island, making it easy to overlook during a normal visit to Lyselia's cave.
To obtain the Eastern Witch's Fan, look for a narrow canyon gap on Serpent Marsh. You need to fly through this gap (using a glider or aerial traversal). Once through, you will encounter a bismuth wall blocking a small alcove. A glowing orb is positioned near the wall. Hit this orb with Axiom Force to shatter the bismuth barrier. The Eastern Witch's Fan is inside the alcove behind the destroyed wall.
This is one of several hidden weapons scattered across Pywel's locations that require players to interact with environmental puzzles rather than defeat enemies. Keep an eye out for glowing orbs near bismuth walls in other areas as well, since these destructible barriers often conceal valuable loot.
Demeniss : The main region to the north of Serpent Marsh
Reventine Monastery : A notable location in the Demeniss region
Tag the Abyss Nexus near Lyselia's cave immediately upon arrival. This saves considerable travel time for future visits.
If you are visiting before Chapter 9, you may not be able to access all of Lyselia's services. The full unlock happens as part of the main story progression.
Look for the colorful flags inside the cave to navigate to Lyselia. The cave entrance is easy to miss between the two mountains.
The final beat of the Chapter 9 storyline takes place here and ends with a sky "enlightenment" moment. Immediately after the cutscene, the Refined Palmer Pill recipe is sitting in the world next to a small stash of ready-made pills you can grab on the spot.
The recipe can be crafted at any witch cauldron. Ingredients are water, regular Ginseng (not wild Ginseng, which you get from bear and elk-horn bladders such as the black bears in Pailune), Palmer Leaf, and Palmer Beetle, both of which are harvested around Parin Village. A Kuku Gardening Pack massively reduces the gather-fail rate on Palmer Leaves.
Once the witch in Serpent Marsh has been unlocked, she sells the Engraved Silver Necklace directly. No puzzle, strongbox, or boss fight gates the purchase, which makes Serpent Marsh one of the easiest stops for acquiring a top-tier necklace. The necklace is the recommended pick for endgame two-handed sword builds because, at max refinement, it rolls level 4 crit rate and 5 attack power, the highest attack power stat on any necklace in the game.
A pre-1.03 tooltip bug used to display double the actual crit rate on this necklace. The patch corrected the display, so the stat shown in the current tooltip is accurate and players should ignore older guides that quoted the inflated number.
During Act 9, the main storyline returns to the Serpent Marsh to introduce the fist fighter Turken, a Greymane encountered on the southern side of Demeniss. Turken is one of the four major Act 9 objectives given to the player, and is notable for being the one objective in that stretch that does not take place inside the Crimson Desert.
After the initial encounter, the quest sends you across the Serpent Marsh island to complete a series of platforming challenges. Working through this traversal is the enlightenment phase of the chain. Once all platforming sections are cleared, you return to the starting point and fight Turken at full power.
Defeating Turken drops T'rukan's Fighting Spirit, a key item that grants a permanent Spirit stat increase when consumed. This makes the Serpent Marsh one of the most rewarding Act 9 detours for any Greymane focused on long-term combat scaling.
Meet Turken on the southern end of the Serpent Marsh during the Act 9 main quest.
Complete the island platforming loop the quest sends you on.
Return to the starting point to fight Turken at full strength.
Pick up the key item, T'rukan's Fighting Spirit, as the reward.
