Added secret walls, hidden dungeons, and quarry near camp example from Will Powers interview
Crimson Desert's open world, roughly twice the size of Skyrim, is designed to reward thorough exploration. Producer Will Powers described hidden content in his Save State interview: "There are secret walls, there are hidden things in plain sight as well as hidden things within hidden dungeons. We want to reward time, investment, and exploration."
This page documents confirmed hidden content mechanics and will be updated with player discoveries after the March 19, 2026 release.
Not all secrets require puzzle-solving or dungeon-crawling. Some are sitting in the open, easy to miss if you are not paying attention. Will Powers gave a specific example from his own playtime:
"There is your Greymane camp. One of the times I was [returning to it], something I'd done probably 50 times easily, I noticed that there's a quarry or something right next to the camp that I just hadn't noticed before. I looked in there and found something. It was right next to where I've been like and spent hours, dozens of hours. I just hadn't noticed it before."
He had hundreds of hours in the game at that point. If a developer can miss something that close to the main camp, the world likely has many similar discoveries waiting for players.
Will Powers confirmed that secret walls exist. No further detail on how they are revealed, whether through interaction, environmental clues, or specific abilities. The Features Overview 2 video reportedly shows examples.
Dungeons with hidden entrances contain chests with specific weapons or armor pieces. Will Powers described one path to gear: "You went into a fort and found a hidden passage within a dungeon and there was a hidden chest that had this specific weapon or armor piece." See Crafting for how these fit into the gear acquisition system.
Boss arenas contain optional mechanics that are never highlighted by the game. The SGF demo knight fight has destructible pillars. See Boss Battles for details.
Crimson Desert started as a Black Desert prequel before evolving into its own story. The games share the same universe according to Pearl Abyss. Alustin appears in Black Desert Online as an alchemist from Calpheon. Shakatu appears in BDO as the "Magnate of Valencia." Pearl Abyss announced a Black Desert x Crimson Desert collaboration event featuring "Ashen Crow" gear.
The Hernandian Banquet Attire infiltration sequence suggests a disguise mechanic that may unlock hidden areas or conversations in other contexts.
This page will be expanded with player findings after release. Given the scope of the world and Will Powers' admission that even he discovers new things after hundreds of hours, expect secrets that reward every corner of Pywel and the Abyss.
