The Prison Key is obtained during quest progression. Key Items in Crimson Desert are typically acquired through NPC interactions, quest rewards, or by defeating enemies and bosses. The specific quest and location for this key have not yet been fully documented.
The Prison Key unlocks prison cell doors. Based on its description, it is used for standard cells rather than high-security areas, suggesting it provides access to cells holding ordinary prisoners. Players may encounter locked prison cells in locations such as the Hernand Sewers or other detention areas throughout Pywel.
Prison Keys can be acquired through several methods:
Purchase from a Back Alley Shop. The shop south of St. Halssius's House of Healing and east of Hernand sells Prison Keys alongside other utility items.
Loot from defeated enemies. Bandits and guards sometimes carry Prison Keys.
Find in chests or barracks throughout the world. Guard posts and military outposts are reliable sources.
The Prison Key opens prison cell doors, specifically those holding criminals of lesser importance. Unlike generic Keys which work on standard house doors, Prison Keys are tailored to jail cells. Despite being categorized as a Key Item, they function similarly to consumable keys in that they are used up when the associated quest objective completes.
Prison Keys cannot be sold or discarded from the inventory.
They remain in the player's inventory until the specific prison cell they are meant for is opened.
Unlike generic Keys, Prison Keys do not work on standard locked doors.
