Overview

The Partridge is a small ground-hopping bird with brown and gray feathers found throughout Pywel. It is cataloged in the Knowledge System under the Lifeforms category as a flightless bird. Partridges are one of several bird species that can be hunted for Bird Meat, a cooking ingredient used in various recipes.

Appearance

Partridges are compact, ground-level birds covered in mottled brown and gray plumage. Their coloring provides effective camouflage against the dirt and underbrush where they spend most of their time. They have short, rounded wings and stout legs suited for scurrying along the ground rather than sustained flight.

Location and Habitat

Partridges prefer grasslands, forest edges, and open fields across Pywel. They can be spotted hopping along the ground in groups, often near bushes or tall grass. They tend to scatter when approached, making quick dashes into nearby cover. Listen for rustling in the underbrush when exploring wooded areas near Hernand and surrounding regions.

How to Tame

Patch 1.09.00 added roughly thirty small animal species that can now be registered as Pets, and the Partridge is one of them. A registered pet follows you and loots fallen enemies. To tame one, raise its Trust from 0 to 100, then hold the on-screen prompt to choose Take In.

Many of the new small pets share a single farm field in the Delesyia area, on the strip of farmland north of Tinkerton. Look for a leaning tower standing in the middle of the field with three flax patches (the grass with white flowers) beside it, the spot players call the golden apple hedgehog farm. Walk through the flax and the animals dash out in one direction, then circle back through the patch to make them respawn.

Birds are tamed with the Sotdae of Bond, a wooden perch you plant and load with food before stepping back so the bird comes to feed. Insects, seeds, oats, and fruits can all be placed in the perch. See the Pet Taming Guide for the full feeding and registration steps.

Tips

• Partridges are part of the "Feather of the Earth" Hunting Challenge, which requires carrying 5 birds.

• Approach slowly. Partridges will flee when startled, so crouch to get within range before attacking.

• Bird Meat from partridges can be cooked into Grilled Bird Meat and its upgraded variants.
