Overview

Orbs of Lightning is a unique active Abyss Gear in Crimson Desert. These orbs hover briefly before discharging bolts of lightning at nearby enemies, dealing Abyss-type lightning damage and briefly staggering targets caught in the discharge.

The orbs target enemies within a moderate radius and prioritize the closest threats. Each orb fires a single powerful bolt before dissipating, so the total damage scales with the number of enemies in range. Against a single target, all orbs may converge on the same enemy for concentrated burst damage. Against a group, the bolts spread across multiple targets for effective crowd control.

Lightning damage from Orbs of Lightning can apply the Shocked status effect on enemies, which briefly stuns them and interrupts their current action. This interruption is especially valuable against enemies that are winding up powerful attacks or charging abilities, since a well-timed trigger can cancel their move entirely.

How to Obtain

Obtained as a reward from high-level combat encounters or Sealed Abyss Artifact challenges in regions with lightning-themed enemies. Can also appear on certain unique weapons found in Abyss-corrupted areas.

As a unique Abyss Gear item, Orbs of Lightning is not sold by regular Witch merchants. It must be earned through specific encounters or found on unique weapons in the open world. Once obtained, it can be extracted from its host weapon at any Witch and re-socketed into a different weapon of your choice.

Usage and Strategy

As an active Abyss Gear, Orbs of Lightning triggers its effect automatically during combat under certain conditions rather than providing a permanent stat bonus. When triggered, it summons orbs that smite nearby enemies with bolts of lightning, dealing damage to enemies in range.

Tips

• Orbs of Lightning excels in group encounters where the bolts can chain across multiple enemies for crowd control.

• The Shocked status effect interrupts enemy attack animations, creating openings for follow-up melee combos.

• Pair with Shockward I on your armor if you are fighting enemies that also use lightning attacks, so you resist their damage while dealing your own.

• The orbs appear around the player character, so positioning yourself near clusters of enemies maximizes the number of targets hit per activation.
