Nature's Echo

Initial version: comprehensive Nature's Echo skill guide with level progression, prerequisites, combat strategies, and build recommendations
Nature's Echo is a green skill in the Spirit skill tree, available exclusively to Kliff. When activated, it creates phantom illusions that automatically replicate your melee attacks, producing additional instances of damage at no extra cost. Each level of the skill unlocks an echo for a different attack: Forward Slash, Spinning Slash, and Stab. Because the echoed attacks trigger passively alongside normal combat actions, Nature's Echo is widely regarded as one of the strongest early-game investments in the entire skill tree.
The illusions generated by Nature's Echo function as spectral copies of Kliff that appear briefly during combat. When you perform one of the echoed attacks, the phantom replica strikes at the same time, hitting the same target (or targets, in the case of area attacks). The echo deals its own independent damage and contributes its own stagger buildup, which makes Nature's Echo exceptionally effective against bosses whose stagger bars need to be filled quickly.

Nature's Echo requires two skills to be fully leveled before it becomes available on the skill tree. You must have both Keen Senses at Level 3 and Forward Slash at Level 3. Once both prerequisites are met, spend 1 Abyss Artifact to unlock the skill. This means you will need a minimum of 7 Abyss Artifacts to reach Nature's Echo (3 for Keen Senses, 3 for Forward Slash, and 1 for Nature's Echo itself).
Prerequisite | Required Level | Skill Tree |
|---|---|---|
Level 3 | Spirit (Green) | |
Level 3 | Stamina (Blue) |
Keen Senses is a defensive Spirit skill that unlocks Parry (perfect block), Backstep (perfect dodge), and Counter at its three levels. Forward Slash is a Stamina skill that provides a heavy melee attack with combo follow-ups. Both of these skills are strong in their own right, so the path toward Nature's Echo does not require you to invest in anything that would otherwise go to waste.
Each level of Nature's Echo unlocks an echo for a different melee attack. The sub-skills are passive; once unlocked, they activate automatically whenever you use the corresponding attack.
Level | Sub-Skill | Echoed Attack | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Level 1 | Creates an illusion that copies your Forward Slash. Effectively doubles the damage of every Forward Slash you perform. | ||
Level 2 | Summons an echo that performs a Spinning Slash alongside yours. Doubles the area-of-effect damage, making it devastating against groups of enemies. | ||
Level 3 | Summons an echo that performs a Stab attack. Provides exceptional single-target burst potential, ideal for boss stagger windows and weak point damage. |
At maximum level, Nature's Echo means that three of your core melee attacks produce an additional hit every time they connect. Since these echoed attacks cost nothing to trigger, the overall damage increase is purely additive with no resource downside.
Nature's Echo can be acquired through the standard skill observation system. As you progress through Crimson Desert, certain combat encounters will trigger a "Learning in Progress..." notification in the top-left corner of the screen. The screen darkens slightly while Kliff observes the technique in action. Once the observation completes, Nature's Echo becomes available on the skill tree and can be unlocked by spending 1 Abyss Artifact.
Because the skill requires Keen Senses Lv.3 and Forward Slash Lv.3 as prerequisites, it is not available at the very beginning of the game. However, both prerequisite skills are among the most commonly recommended early investments, so most players will meet the requirements naturally during the first few chapters of the story.
The most immediate benefit of Nature's Echo is a dramatic increase in overall damage output. Multiple sources and community testing have concluded that the skill roughly doubles your damage during normal combat rotations. This holds true regardless of gear progression, since the echo replicates the full damage of each qualified attack. Whether you are in early-game basic equipment or late-game enchanted gear, Nature's Echo scales with your weapon stats and remains relevant throughout the entire playthrough.
Beyond raw damage, each echoed attack contributes its own stagger damage to the target's stagger bar. Bosses in Crimson Desert have stagger meters that, once filled, cause the boss to enter a stunned state and become vulnerable to heavy punishment. Because Nature's Echo effectively doubles the stagger buildup of Forward Slash, Spinning Slash, and Stab, it significantly reduces the time needed to trigger a stagger. This makes boss fights faster and creates more frequent windows for burst damage.
At Level 3, Echoing Stab transforms the Stab attack into one of the highest single-target damage options in the game. The standard Stab is already a strong charged attack; doubling it with the echo produces what many players describe as "insane single-target burst potential." This is especially valuable during boss stagger windows, where maximizing damage in a short time frame is critical.
At Level 2, Echoing Spinning Slash doubles the effectiveness of Spinning Slash against groups. Since Spinning Slash already covers a wide arc around Kliff, having the echo perform its own sweep means enemies caught in the radius take significantly more punishment. This is the go-to option when fighting packs of enemies or clearing through densely populated areas.
Nature's Echo is a combat-focused green skill, making it a strong fit for aggressive melee builds. Because it requires Forward Slash Lv.3 and Keen Senses Lv.3 as prerequisites, it fits naturally into a progression that already prioritizes both offensive and defensive fundamentals.
Keen Senses Lv.3 (Spirit): Unlocks Parry, Backstep, and Counter for core defensive options.
Forward Slash Lv.3 (Stamina): Heavy melee attack with follow-up combos. Prevents misses at max rank.
Nature's Echo Lv.1+ (Spirit): Echoes your Forward Slash for free double damage on your most-used attack.
Evasive Roll (Stamina): Reduces dodge stamina cost and extends invincibility frames for safer positioning.
Nature's Echo Lv.3 (Spirit): Fully upgraded for Forward Slash, Spinning Slash, and Stab echoes.
Focus Lv.3 (Spirit): Slows time and regenerates Spirit. Lv.3 adds Focused Insight for an instant parry while Focus is active.
Keen Senses Lv.3 (Spirit): Parry and Counter provide large damage windows after deflecting boss attacks.
Forward Slash Lv.3 (Stamina): The primary damage dealer, now doubled by the echo.
Stab (Stamina): Charged single-target attack doubled by Echoing Stab for massive burst.
The Spirit (green) tree contains several strong abilities, and players often need to choose carefully where to spend their limited Abyss Artifacts. Here is how Nature's Echo compares to other popular Spirit skills.
Skill | Role | Cost | Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
Nature's Echo | Passive damage doubler | No activation cost | Pure offensive. No active input required. Scales with weapon damage and remains effective at all gear levels. |
Time slow + Spirit regen | 5 Spirit/sec | Defensive and utility. Excellent for difficult encounters. Lv.3 adds an instant parry. Drains Spirit while active. | |
Projectile barrier | 2 Spirit/sec | Defensive. Blocks ranged attacks and can retaliate at higher levels. Situational against melee-heavy enemies. | |
Defense reduction + healing | Spirit | Utility. Reduces target Defense and unlocks aerial/healing variants. Good support skill but lower raw damage output. | |
Auto-attacking sentry | Spirit | Passive damage. Deploys a floating blade that attacks nearby enemies. Useful hands-free damage but typically lower output than Nature's Echo. |
For players focused on maximizing damage, Nature's Echo is generally the top priority in the Spirit tree. Its passive nature and zero activation cost make it consistently valuable in every encounter, while most other Spirit skills are situational or drain resources during use.
Prioritize this skill early. Nature's Echo is one of the strongest damage investments in the game. Unlocking it as soon as both prerequisites are met provides an immediate and lasting combat advantage.
Level 1 alone is already powerful. Even without reaching Levels 2 and 3, the Forward Slash echo at Level 1 roughly doubles the damage of your most frequently used heavy attack. You can invest additional artifacts elsewhere and return to upgrade Nature's Echo later.
Use Stab during stagger windows. When a boss enters a staggered state, switch to charged Stab attacks. With Echoing Stab active, the burst damage during these windows is significantly higher than any other attack option.
The echo adds stagger buildup. Each echoed hit contributes separately to the target's stagger meter. This means Nature's Echo does not just increase damage; it also shortens the time between stagger triggers on bosses.
No resource management needed. Unlike Focus or Nature's Snare, the echoed attacks cost nothing to trigger. Once unlocked, they are always active, so there is no need to monitor Spirit reserves during combat.
Works with all weapon types. Since the echoed attacks replicate whatever melee weapon you are currently using, Nature's Echo benefits one-handed swords, two-handed blades, spears, and any other melee weapon equally. The damage scales with your equipped weapon's stats.
Combine with Keen Senses for offense and defense. Since Keen Senses Lv.3 is already a prerequisite, you will have access to Parry and Counter by the time you unlock Nature's Echo. Parrying an enemy attack creates a damage window; following up with an echoed Forward Slash or Stab during that window maximizes your punishment.
Nature's Echo is part of a family of "Nature" skills in the Spirit tree, alongside Nature's Snare and Nature's Grasp. All three create manifestations of the Abyss to assist Kliff in different ways.
The echoed illusions are purely visual and cannot be targeted or damaged by enemies. They exist only for the brief moment of the replicated attack.
A visual bug has been reported on Steam where Nature's Echo illusions occasionally persist on screen longer than intended, though this does not affect gameplay.
