Lightning Spear

Added crafting source (Due Haven research + Steel Spike Armory), permanent version, and replacement info
The Lightning Spear is an Uncommon-grade two-handed spear in Crimson Desert. While modest in its base form with 6 Attack, this spear is notable because it can be upgraded into the significantly more powerful Kuku Lightning Spear at the Kilnden Workshop, making it an important stepping stone for spear-focused builds.
The base Lightning Spear is easy to obtain from the Black Wall Bandit Camp north of Pailune. Players who pick it up early should hold onto it rather than selling, as the upgraded Kuku version becomes one of the strongest lightning weapons in the game.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Weapon Type | Two-Handed Spear |
Grade | Uncommon (Green) |
Attack Power | 6 |
Attack (+0) | 27 |
Refinement | Cannot be refined (base form) |
Abyss Gear Slots | None (base form) |
The Lightning Spear is found at the Black Wall Bandit Camp, located north of Pailune. Travel to the camp (look for it above the 'E' on the world map in the Pailune area). Head toward the back of the camp and find the weapon rack. The Lightning Spear is sitting on the rack, ready to be picked up.
There are no enemies to defeat or puzzles to solve. Simply walk up to the weapon rack and take the spear.
The Lightning Spear can be upgraded into the Kuku Lightning Spear at Grimnir's Kuku Pot workshop at the Kilnden Workshop. The upgrade transforms this basic weapon into a fully refinable spear with much higher endgame potential.
The Kuku Lightning Spear reaches 35 Attack at maximum refinement with Attack Speed Lv.1 and Movement Speed Lv.2. Unlike the base form, the upgraded version can be refined at a Blacksmith and accepts Abyss Gear, making it scale into the late game.

The Lightning Spear can be crafted via a dispatch mission after unlocking the Electric Tool Design Research at Due Haven. This research is located in the 2nd row of Due Haven's research tree.
Once the research is complete, the Lightning Spear production dispatch mission becomes available at the Steel Spike Armory. You can craft as many Lightning Spears as needed through repeated dispatch missions, making this the primary way to obtain replacements if your original Lightning Spear was accidentally destroyed or lost.
To create a permanent (Cuckoo) version of the Lightning Spear, take the crafted spear to a workshop and combine it with small batteries, electrical components, and cog wheels. The permanent version can then be refined to higher stages, significantly improving its stats and durability. This is a worthwhile investment for players who plan to use the Lightning Spear as a long-term part of their loadout.
If you accidentally destroyed your Lightning Spear (for example, by salvaging it or using it as upgrade material), the crafting dispatch mission at the Steel Spike Armory is the way to get a replacement. Unlock the Electric Tool Design Research at Due Haven if you have not already, then run the dispatch mission to receive a new Lightning Spear. There is no limit on the number of times you can run this dispatch.
The base Lightning Spear is weak and should be upgraded as soon as possible. Do not invest refinement materials into the base version.
Spears excel at maintaining distance from enemies. Use thrust attacks to poke from outside their melee range.
The Electro-Mecha Spear offers higher immediate power (30 Attack) but cannot be refined. For long-term investment, the Kuku Lightning Spear is the better choice.
As a two-handed weapon, this spear prevents the use of off-hand equipment like shields.
