The Leaping Kuku Bird is a temporary mount in Crimson Desert and a larger, more mature variant of the Kuku Bird Hatchling. Classified as a Flying type mount, the Leaping Kuku Bird shares its younger counterpart's gliding capabilities but features a more imposing frame and distinct feather patterns that set it apart visually.

As its name suggests, the Leaping Kuku Bird excels at powerful jumps and bounding leaps that transition smoothly into glides. This combination of ground-level agility and aerial gliding makes it one of the more versatile temporary mounts for navigating the varied terrain of Pywel. Like the Kuku Bird Hatchling, it is a Fleeting Companion that cannot be registered at a stable.

The Leaping Kuku Bird shares identical base stats with the Kuku Bird Hatchling, suggesting that the two variants are mechanically similar despite their visual differences:

With 400 Health and 300 Stamina, the Leaping Kuku Bird is a durable gliding mount. Its Attack of 25 and Defense of 50 mirror the hatchling variant, confirming that Kuku Birds are designed for traversal rather than combat. Stats are fixed and cannot be improved through leveling.

How to Obtain

The Leaping Kuku Bird is found in similar mountainous regions to the Kuku Bird Hatchling, though it may appear at different spawn points or be ridden by higher-level NPC patrols. The acquisition process follows the same pattern:

1. Locate an enemy NPC riding a Leaping Kuku Bird in elevated terrain areas.

2. Defeat the NPC rider through combat.

3. Chase down the Leaping Kuku Bird before it flees and press the mount button when the prompt appears.

The Leaping Kuku Bird may be slightly harder to catch than the hatchling due to its longer stride, so be prepared to sprint immediately after taking down the rider. Using terrain to corner the bird against cliffs or rock walls can improve your chances.

Differences from the Kuku Bird Hatchling

While the Leaping Kuku Bird and the Kuku Bird Hatchling share the same stat line, there are notable differences between the two:

• The Leaping Kuku Bird's stronger jump makes it slightly better for initiating glides from lower starting points compared to the hatchling.
