The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex is a legendary ibex mount in Crimson Desert, widely considered the best non-horse travel mount in the game. Introduced as a permanent summonable mount in Patch 1.01.00, it is obtained by defeating the boss Morin in the "Fog Over the Forest" quest for the Longleaf Tribe, a Paloon faction.
The ibex combines good raw movement speed (only surpassed by the three legendary horses) with a bounding gait that lets it handle awkward terrain, hills, and obstacles far better than any horse can. With 300 Stamina and high HP, it has excellent endurance and survivability. It also has decent attack capability, making it a well-rounded mount. The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex is the mount of choice for players who want fast, reliable travel across all terrain types without being locked to flat roads.
The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex has fixed stats that do not level up.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
HP | High |
300 | |
Attack | Decent |
Mount Type | Legendary (permanent summonable) |

Obtaining the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex requires completing a lengthy quest chain. The boss fight is located just north of Ridge Hunter Tannery. The full prerequisite chain is as follows:
Complete Chapter 7 of the main story
Complete the "Crossroads of Succession" quest
Complete "Dark Shadow Engulfing the Fort"
Complete "Bloodied Path"
Complete "Nest of White Feathers"
Unlock the Skog Horn Tribe
Complete "Soul Shepherd"
Clear Ridge Hunter Tannery
Unlock the Longleaf Tribe (a Paloon faction)
Accept and complete "Fog Over the Forest, the Sport Hunter"
The fight against Morin is a two-phase encounter, similar in structure to the Rock Tusk Warthog's boss fight:
Phase 1: Engage Morin and deplete his first health bar. Once depleted, the boss retreats and disappears from the area.
Phase 2: Track Morin using the lantern, or simply wait at the location for him to patrol back. Once he reappears, engage in the full boss fight. Defeat Morin to collect the key item.
After defeating Morin, take the key item to a Witch NPC. Under "Craft Abyss Gear," navigate to the special items tab and craft a sigil. Consuming the sigil permanently registers the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex as a summonable mount.
The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex has a well-rounded set of abilities:
Bounding Gait: The ibex has a distinctive bounding movement pattern that lets it clear obstacles, rocks, fences, and uneven terrain that would stop or slow down horse mounts. This is its defining advantage and the primary reason it is considered the best non-horse travel mount.
Combat Attacks: The ibex has decent attack capability and can deal meaningful damage to enemies while mounted. Its combat output is not on the level of the White Bear, but it is more combat-capable than the Snowwhite Deer.
The ibex's combination of speed, terrain handling, stamina, and combat ability makes it the most versatile of the five legendary mounts. It does not excel in any single category the way the White Bear dominates combat, but it performs well across all situations.
Strengths:
Best non-horse travel mount in the game; only the three legendary horses are faster on flat ground
Bounding gait handles awkward terrain, hills, and obstacles far better than horses
300 Stamina provides excellent endurance for long rides
High HP gives strong survivability in combat encounters
Decent attack stat makes it viable for mounted combat, unlike the Snowwhite Deer
Permanent summonable mount; available from anywhere
The most well-rounded legendary mount overall
Weaknesses:
Requires the longest quest chain of any legendary mount to unlock
Slightly slower than legendary horses on flat, open terrain
Combat output is good but not exceptional; the White Bear is far superior for dedicated combat
Two-phase boss fight against Morin can be challenging
Cannot be obtained until after Chapter 7 and multiple faction quests are complete
