The Gristle Wolf is a temporary mount in Crimson Desert and the largest, most dangerous wolf variant players can ride. With a massive 1,743 Health and 280 Attack, the Gristle Wolf is by far the toughest and hardest-hitting wolf-type mount available. It towers over the smaller Swift Wolf, Large Wolf, and Large White Wolf variants, and its raw combat stats rival those of bears and other elite predators in the game.
Like all predator mounts, the Gristle Wolf is classified as a Fleeting Companion. It cannot be stabled, summoned, or kept after dismounting. Each ride is a one-time experience.
At Level 1, the Gristle Wolf has the following base stats:
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
1,743 | |
100 | |
Attack | 280 |
Evade | 60 |

The Gristle Wolf's 1,743 HP is remarkable for a temporary mount. It exceeds the Black Bear (1,500 HP) and Grizzly Bear (1,500 HP), making it one of the tankiest rideable creatures. Its 280 Attack is second only to the Wyvern (324) among temporary mounts. The 60 Evade is also solid, giving it some ability to avoid incoming hits.
Gristle Wolves are rare predators that appear in remote forested areas. Like all predator mounts, they must be beaten into submission. Given the Gristle Wolf's extremely high HP and powerful attacks, subduing one is a serious combat challenge. Players should come prepared with strong weapons, healing items, and ideally fire-based oils or arrows to create stagger windows.
The mount prompt window after subduing a Gristle Wolf is tight. Save before engaging one, because failing to mount in time means you wasted the fight and the wolf recovers to full hostility.
With 280 Attack, the Gristle Wolf is an absolute powerhouse in mounted combat. The rider can use their own weapons on top of the wolf's innate aggression. Charging into enemy camps on a Gristle Wolf can devastate groups of weaker enemies.
The wolf's agile flanking maneuvers allow it to dart around larger, slower enemies. Unlike a bear, which fights with brute force, the Gristle Wolf uses coordinated attack patterns alongside the rider.
Temporary only: Cannot be stabled or summoned. Dismounting causes the wolf to turn hostile immediately.
Low Stamina: With only 100 Stamina, the Gristle Wolf tires quickly during extended sprints.
Difficult to subdue: The Gristle Wolf's 1,743 HP means the subduing fight is long and dangerous. Come prepared.
