Golden Beer is a consumable in Crimson Desert. Majul's stash of premium beer. His most prized treasure, he kept it tucked away in a secret storage, hidden even from his own subordinates. More than just a simple drink, this masterpiece provides deep satisfaction and a surge of vitality to anyone who tastes it.

This item can be obtained through the following sources:
The Golden Beer is obtained by completing the House Byron questline in the Demeniss area. This questline is only available after finishing Chapter 8. The four noble house questlines in Demeniss unlock in a fixed order:
The House Byron quest involves clearing a quarry and destroying Mr. Mazle. After completing the final objective, the Golden Beer is awarded as the questline reward.
Utility items serve various purposes in Crimson Desert, from combat support to exploration aids.
When consumed, the Golden Beer grants double mission dispatch rewards permanently. This applies to all dispatch missions going forward, making it one of the most valuable items in the game for players who rely on dispatching mercenaries for income and materials.
Resolved: Prior to Patch 1.04, the Golden Beer had a bug where its permanent double-dispatch-rewards effect could silently vanish after a few hours of gameplay. The double rewards bonus would simply stop applying with no in-game notification, so the only warning sign was the next dispatch payout returning to normal single-reward amounts.
Patch 1.04 fixed this issue. The item now correctly maintains its permanent double-rewards state for the rest of the run, so the save-and-reload workaround described below is no longer required on current versions. The workaround is kept here for reference because it still applies to any save that predates the patch and is being played on an older build.
Legacy workaround (pre-1.04 only): Save the game immediately before using the Golden Beer and keep that save file as a backup. If the dispatch rewards returned to normal amounts, reload that backup save and use the Golden Beer again. Before relying on the buff, verify it was working by checking the next dispatch payout to confirm it showed doubled values.

Before the Golden Beer becomes reachable, the House Elmore questline has to be cleared. That chain walks you through the Eastern Court, the Western Court, and the Southern Court in turn. Only once all three courts are resolved does the follow-up House Byron questline, Dark Justice, unlock.
Dark Justice runs through two connected steps, A Secret Request and One Step Ahead, which together send you to deal with a specific enemy at the quarry that now needs liberating after the region updates. The boss at the end of that chain is Mazour, fought at the quarry itself.
Beating Mazour grants the Golden Beer key item alongside two equipment drops:
Sanguine Nail, a two-handed weapon flagged as a particularly strong Unk option.
Patch 1.04 shipped a dedicated fix for the Golden Beer, restoring its permanent double-dispatch-rewards effect after an earlier version had broken it. The fix was called out at the top of the patch overview as one of the headline improvements, alongside difficulty settings, the new storage chest system, and the new bird pet category. Any save loaded on 1.04 or later will have the correct behavior going forward, and players no longer need to rely on reload workarounds to keep the bonus active.
The official patch notes confirm an issue where the effects of Golden Beer and Sage's Eye did not apply properly. That issue has been addressed. For Golden Beer, the practical meaning is that the permanent double rewards from Greymane dispatch missions are firmly back in play after consuming the item. For Sage's Eye, the sibling consumable granted from a different noble house questline, the same class of fix was applied so its own buff now likewise persists as intended.
Aspect | Pre-1.04 Behavior | Patch 1.04 Behavior |
|---|---|---|
Double-rewards persistence | Buff often stopped applying silently after a few hours of play. | Buff remains active permanently once consumed, as the item description states. |
In-game notification on failure | No warning; only noticeable by watching the next dispatch payout return to single rewards. | No failure state to notify. The effect simply stays on. |
Save-and-reload workaround | Required in practice. Players kept a backup save before drinking and reloaded it whenever the buff dropped. | Not required. The item can be consumed once and then left alone for the rest of the run. |
Companion consumable Sage's Eye | Same class of issue: its buff also failed to apply properly on older builds. | Addressed in the same patch entry. Its intended effect now persists for the run. |
Existing save on the latest version: once the save is loaded into 1.04 or later and the Golden Beer has been consumed (whether in this run or a previous session), the double-rewards effect will be applied correctly going forward. There is no separate toggle or re-drink step required.
New save on the latest version: complete the House Byron questline in Demeniss as normal to receive the Golden Beer, then consume it once. The buff remains active for the rest of the playthrough, and every subsequent mission turned in at the dispatch board in the Greymane Camp pays out double the listed reward.
Save that relied on the reload workaround: no migration is needed. Just keep playing on 1.04 or later and the buff will stay on without further intervention. The old backup saves can be discarded once the current run has been verified.
Dispatch missions run while playing as Kliff are the most obvious beneficiary because most players do their dispatch routing between his main-story chapters, but the buff is character-agnostic and applies to all dispatch payouts regardless of which playable character is currently active.
With the fix in place, verification is a one-time check rather than an ongoing ritual:
Open the dispatch board at the camp, note the base reward value for any mission slot, then dispatch it.
When the mission resolves, confirm the payout is double the listed base reward. That is the expected 1.04 behavior.
There is no need to re-verify every few hours the way the pre-patch workflow required. The fix is persistent.
Version | Golden Beer Status |
|---|---|
Pre-1.04 | Effect could drop after a few hours of play. Save-and-reload workaround recommended. |
1.04 and later | Fixed. Permanent double-rewards buff stays applied for the rest of the run as the item description promises. |
