Expanded with symbol solution, cube locations from side rooms, correct switch positions, and elevator timing
"Go to the top of the Spire of the Stars" is the main objective of the Spire of the Stars quest in Chapter 4 of Crimson Desert. The spire, located within the Institute of Scholastein, contains a multi-step elevator puzzle that requires collecting engraved stone cubes, inserting them into wall sockets, aligning four symbols into their correct vertical positions, and then riding the elevator before it descends automatically. The puzzle has three distinct phases.
When you enter the Spire of the Stars, you will see the elevator in front of you. It is not operational yet. You need to find three small engraved stone cubes hidden behind breakable walls.
Look for three yellow walls marked with purple icons on your minimap:
Wall 1: To the left of the elevator. Break it open with Force Palm (R3 / Right Stick).
Wall 2: To the right of the elevator, in the first side room. A device on the wall releases the cube when you hit it with Force Palm.
Wall 3: To the right of the elevator, further into the second side room. Same mechanism as Wall 2.
Approach each yellow wall and use Force Palm (R3 / Right Stick) to break it open or activate the release mechanism. A small engraved stone cube is hidden behind each wall. Pick up all three cubes.
While collecting the cubes from the side rooms on the left and right, look at the wall panels in each room. These panels display images showing the correct positions of two of the four symbols in the main room. Use these as a visual reference for Step 2. Taking a screenshot of each panel is recommended so you can refer back to them.
After collecting all three cubes, return to the main room and insert them into the wall sockets positioned in front of the elevator. The elevator has a wall with four large switches, each marked with a different symbol: a circle, a triangle, a square, and an infinity/cross-like mark. The circle slot already has a cube inserted.
Each cube is engraved with a symbol that matches one of the switches. Place each cube into the slot beneath the switch that has the matching symbol. When a cube is correctly placed, it automatically pushes its corresponding switch upward to the top position.
After all cubes are inserted, the switches need to be moved from their top positions down to specific target positions. You adjust each switch by climbing the wall and hanging onto the symbol. Kliff's weight gradually pulls the switch downward, one notch at a time. When the switch reaches the correct position, it locks into place. Let go and drop down.
The correct arrangement from top to bottom is:
Position (Top to Bottom) | Symbol |
|---|---|
Top slot | Infinity / Cross mark |
Second from top | Circle |
Second from bottom | Triangle |
Bottom slot | Square |
When all four symbols are correctly placed, they stop glowing yellow and the floor turns blue. The elevator is now active and ready to ride.
If you get confused about the correct positions, revisit the wall panels in the side rooms. Each panel shows the target positions for two of the four symbols, and together they give you the complete solution.
Board the elevator and ride it to the top of the spire. This is the straightforward part, but there is one critical detail:
Exit immediately when you reach the top. The elevator starts descending automatically after just a few seconds. If you stay on the platform, you will ride it all the way back down to the bottom and need to activate it again. Step off the elevator as soon as it reaches the top floor.
Continue upstairs and enter the Abyss on the highest floor to progress to the next phase of the quest.
Symbol will not slide into position: Make sure you are hanging from the correct side of the symbol. Let go and re-grab if it seems stuck. The switch only moves downward, so you cannot push it back up once it passes the correct position.
Cannot find the third cube: Check both side rooms thoroughly. The second and third cubes are released by hitting wall devices with Force Palm, not by breaking walls directly.
Elevator went back down: The auto-descent timer starts almost immediately. Return to the base and the elevator should still be functional. Step on and exit quickly this time.
Symbols stuck at wrong positions: If a switch passes its correct position, you may need to interact with it again. The puzzle is designed to allow corrections by repeating the hanging mechanic.
Check the wall murals in the side rooms for a visual reference of the correct symbol order. This is easier than memorizing positions.
Take a screenshot of each side room panel so you can compare them side by side when adjusting the symbols.
Do not linger on the elevator. The auto-descent timer starts almost immediately after it reaches the top.
If a symbol will not slide into position, make sure you are hanging from the correct side. Let go and re-grab if it seems stuck.
Each cube matches the symbol engraved on it to the symbol on the wall switch. Match the engravings before inserting.
