Overview

Finley is a vendor who operates the Hernand Fishing Shop at the Nas River Fishing Dock in the Hernand region. Once a master craftsman who spent years creating quality fishing rods, Finley has semi-retired and now runs his business as more of a hobby than a profession. His shop provides everything a player needs to get started with the fishing system, from basic rods to pre-caught fish for cooking.

Location

The Nas River Fishing Dock sits along the Nas River in the Hernand region. The dock itself serves as both a fishing spot and a small commercial area where Finley runs his shop. The riverbank setting means players can buy a rod from Finley and immediately start fishing without traveling anywhere else. It is a peaceful spot compared to some of the more dangerous areas in the region.

Inventory

Finley sells fishing rods and a selection of pre-caught fish. The fish can be used as cooking ingredients or sold to other vendors for a small profit.

The Fishing Rod at 15 copper is the basic entry-level rod. For an upgraded rod, players can purchase the Fine Fishing Rod Blueprint from Grimrak at the Hernand Farmhouse for 10 Silver and craft a better rod through the game's crafting system.

Fishing at Nas River

The fishing system in Crimson Desert is a minigame-based activity. Players equip a fishing rod, find a suitable water spot (the Nas River right next to Finley's shop works perfectly), and cast their line. A timing-based minigame determines whether you catch the fish or it gets away. Different fish species appear depending on the water body, time of day, and bait used.

Fish caught from the Nas River include the same species Finley sells: Ricefish, Pond Loach, Small Gudgeon, Bass, and Yellow Bass. Catching them yourself is free and can be more rewarding than buying them, since rare catches occasionally appear that Finley does not stock.

Tips

• Buy one Fishing Rod from Finley (15 Copper) to get started with the fishing system. It is one of the cheapest vendor purchases in the entire game.

• Bass (79 Copper) and Yellow Bass (85 Copper) are the most valuable fish Finley sells. If you need them for a cooking recipe and do not want to fish yourself, buy them here.

• The Nas River Fishing Dock is a great place to practice fishing because you can buy gear and fish in the same spot. No travel required.

• Once you can afford the Fine Fishing Rod Blueprint from Grimrak (10 Silver), upgrade your rod for better catch rates and access to rarer fish species.

• Fish are useful cooking ingredients. Many recipes that grant combat buffs require fish, so keeping a few in your inventory is always a good idea.

• Finley's stock is limited (especially Bass and Yellow Bass at only 2 each), so do not rely solely on buying fish from him for large cooking projects. Supplement with your own catches.
