A logging tool that drastically boosts speed. It enables logging at a pace incomparable to a standard axe.
While the base Attack of 11 is modest, one-handed swords compensate with speed and combo potential. Pairing this weapon with a shield provides a balanced offense-and-defense setup, while dual-wielding unlocks additional combo finishers.
As a one-handed sword, this weapon can be paired with a shield for defensive play or with another one-handed weapon for dual-wielding. Experiment with different off-hand combinations to find the setup that best suits your combat style.
The Demenissian Chainsaw is the late-game logging counterpart to the Mining Knuckledrill. It is not a purchasable weapon and cannot be found as a world drop. Players unlock it through the research system at Doo Haven Keep, which hard-blocks the tool behind the main story gate at Chapter 11.
Access to Doo Haven Keep opens up after clearing the main story content in Chapter 11. There is no earlier workaround: the keep is sealed until the story flag is set, so the chainsaw is effectively a very late-game tool. Players who want Flawless Timber access before Chapter 11 should prioritise Olvald's Logging Axe instead, which covers the same Expert Logging passive at a far earlier point in the game.
Once Doo Haven Keep is accessible, interact with its research board and queue the Demenissian Chainsaw project. Research takes in-game time to resolve, so you can leave it running while completing other content in Deleysia and come back when it finishes.
With the research project complete, head to the Steel Spike Armorylocated just north of Doo Haven Keep within easy running distance. The armory hosts a dispatch mission tied to the chainsaw recipe. Send a team on the dispatch, wait for it to return, and collect the Demenissian Chainsaw from the quest rewards. Subsequent dispatches can be repeated if you want additional copies or have lost the original.
The Demenissian Chainsaw shares the auto-collect gathering feature with the Mining Knuckledrill. While logging with the chainsaw equipped, timber fragments that pop off the tree are picked up automatically, removing the usual walk-and-grab step after felling a tree. Combined with the raw speed boost of the chainsaw itself, this makes full-tier logging runs significantly faster than any other axe in the game.
Like the Mining Knuckledrill, the Demenissian Chainsaw benefits from tiered percentage bonuses through the refinement system. At refinement level 6, its wood yield bonus increases beyond the baseline passive, and at refinement level 10 the bonus hits its maximum value. Reaching level 6 should be an early priority once the tool is in hand because it provides the best return for the investment. Level 10 is the long-term goal for players who plan to bulk farm Flawless Timber from the largest trees in Pywell.
Unlike Olvald's Logging Axe, which grants the Expert Logging passive out of the box, the Demenissian Chainsaw requires refinement progression before it can reliably harvest Flawless Timber. Expert Logging Mastery unlocks on the chainsaw once it has been refined to the upper levels. This is the main reason most guides still recommend Olvald's Logging Axe as the primary Flawless Timber tool even after you have obtained the chainsaw. The chainsaw wins on raw speed and auto-collect convenience, while the logging axe wins on earliest access and on minimal investment before Expert Logging is active.
