Antumbra's Spear is one of several Antumbra boss variants encountered when cleansing Sanctums for the witches in Crimson Desert. This spear-wielding boss guards the Sanctum of Revelation, located northeast of the Serpent Marsh in the Demeniss region, north of the Bamboo Forest. The fight is part of the Witches Faction Quest assigned by Areciel, the Witch of Strength, who tasks players with purifying corrupted Sanctums across the continent.
Compared to the more complex Antumbra's Sword encounter, Antumbra's Spear has relatively repetitive attack patterns. However, the boss compensates with longer reach thanks to its spear and a mix of magic-based attacks that cannot be blocked. The boss can be stunned for several seconds using Force Palm, which creates reliable damage windows throughout the fight. Players who have already cleared other Sanctums should find this encounter manageable with proper preparation and good timing on dodges.

The Sanctum of Revelation is located on a patch of land surrounded by water, northeast of the Serpent Marsh in Demeniss, north of the Bamboo Forest. To access the Sanctum, you must first meet Areciel, the Witch of Strength (disguised as a child north of Tashkalp), and listen to her request to purify the Sanctums. Sanctums can only be purified by Witches from the Witches Faction, making this quest progression essential.
Approach the Sanctum from its south side. The area is overrun with Antumbra enemies that must be cleared before the boss becomes accessible. Fight your way through the building, defeating cultists and reducing the liberation percentage as you go. Once all the minor enemies in the outer area are dealt with, head into the fogged section deeper inside the Sanctum, where Antumbra's Spear waits.
Antumbra's Spear has repetitive attack patterns, making the encounter relatively predictable once you learn the tells. The spear gives this boss noticeably longer reach than the sword variant, so its poke attacks can catch you during dodges if you try to roll directly backward. Staying to the sides rather than directly in front of the boss is generally safer. The boss uses a mix of physical spear strikes and magic-based attacks, and recognizing which type is coming determines whether you should parry or dodge.
Attack | Description | How to Counter |
|---|---|---|
Spear Thrust Combo | A series of two to three forward thrusts with the spear, covering moderate to long range. The linear attack path extends further than other Antumbra melee combos due to the weapon's reach. | Dodge sideways rather than backward, since the spear's range can clip you on a backward roll. Parry the normal thrusts and follow up with heavy attacks to build the stagger meter. After the final thrust there is a brief recovery window for counterattacks. |
Sweeping Strike | A wide horizontal sweep with the spear that covers a broad arc directly in front of the boss. The sweep has a fixed arc and will not track your position once the animation starts. | Dodge backward or roll behind the boss to avoid the arc entirely. This is a physical attack that can be parried, but the timing is tight. Rolling behind the boss creates a good opportunity for a punish combo. |
Ground Slam | The boss raises the spear overhead and drives it into the ground, creating a localized impact zone. This is the most damaging single physical attack in the encounter, and the overhead wind-up animation is clearly telegraphed. | Roll away when you see the overhead wind-up. Alternatively, use Force Palm to interrupt this attack before it connects, which stuns the boss and opens a large damage window. This is the ideal time to use Force Palm if it is available. |
Magic Projectiles | The boss channels energy through the spear and launches magic-based projectile attacks. These are ranged attacks that travel in a straight line toward your current position. | These magic attacks cannot be blocked and must be dodged. Side-step or dodge roll to avoid them. Do not attempt to parry or shield these attacks, as they will pass through your guard and deal full damage. |
Charge Lunge | The boss dashes forward with the spear pointed ahead, closing distance rapidly. This attack is used when you put too much distance between yourself and the boss, and the long reach of the spear makes it dangerous at mid-range. | Dodge to either side at the last moment. Do not try to outrun this attack, as the boss covers ground quickly. After the lunge, there is a short recovery window where the boss is vulnerable. |
A key distinction in this fight is recognizing which attacks are physical and which are magic-based. Physical attacks (the thrust combo, sweeping strike, ground slam, and charge lunge) can all be parried. Successful parries allow you to follow up with heavy attacks that fill the stagger meter beneath the boss's health bar. Once the stagger meter is full, the boss is briefly stunned, providing another damage window on top of Force Palm stuns.
Magic-based projectile attacks cannot be blocked or parried and must be dodged. The boss tends to use magic attacks when you are at range, so staying at medium distance and reading the wind-up animations is essential. If you see energy gathering around the spear tip without a clear physical swing motion, prepare to dodge rather than parry.
The primary strategy against Antumbra's Spear is using Force Palm to repeatedly stun the boss. When Force Palm connects, Antumbra's Spear is stunned for several seconds, creating a reliable window for offensive pressure and damage dealing. Follow each stun with a three-hit combo, then prepare to dodge and set up your next Force Palm. This loop is the most consistent and safe approach to the fight.
The best time to use Force Palm is during the ground slam wind-up, since the boss is locked into a long animation and cannot dodge your approach. If Force Palm is on cooldown, dodge the slam and wait for the next opportunity. Between Force Palm windows, chip away at the boss with light attacks after parrying the physical strikes, and build stagger meter with heavy attacks whenever you land a successful parry.
The Sanctum of Revelation is not a one-on-one fight. Antumbra cultists and warpriests occupy the area alongside the boss. It is worth thinning out the floating sphere enemies first by shooting them down with arrows, then finishing them on the ground. Use area-of-effect attacks to handle clusters of smaller enemies while focusing your single-target damage and Force Palm stuns on the boss. Clearing the additional enemies helps reduce the green liberation bar that must reach zero to liberate the Sanctum.
After defeating Antumbra's Spear and killing the majority of remaining enemies, the green liberation bar will be emptied. This liberates the Sanctum of Revelation. Once liberated, you must complete a puzzle involving two Fusion Reactor Cores before the Sanctum is fully cleansed.
After liberating the Sanctum, you need to find and install two Fusion Reactor Cores to activate the generator and complete the cleansing.
Core XXXIV-VI: Head west to the lower floor. Step on the small room's roof to break it open, then grab the core with Axiom Force. Place it above the broken pillar and use a jumping Force Palm (Aerial Force Palm) to slot it into position.
Core IX: Look up at the cube marker above. Climb a nearby rock, seal the core with Axiom Force, then drag it into the generator's square slot. Activate the generator with Force Palm to complete the puzzle.
After solving the puzzle, do not leave immediately. Head upstairs and pick up the Thorn of Dark Pursuit before exiting, as it is easy to miss in the post-puzzle rush.
The following stats come from the official game database. With 4,116 HP, Antumbra's Spear is a mid-tier Elite Boss and notably less durable than the Antumbra's Sword variant. Its Attack of 265 still demands respect, while a Defense of 0 means all incoming damage lands at full value. The Knockout threshold of 750 indicates the boss can be staggered with sustained combos or Force Palm pressure.

Defense | 0 |

Antumbra's Spear wields the Antumbra Spear, a Giant Spear weapon that accounts for the long reach visible throughout the fight. The boss wears a complete set of Antumbra Cloth armor covering all four body slots: Antumbra Cloth Armor (upper body), Antumbra Cloth Cloak (cloak), Antumbra Cloth Gloves (hands), and Antumbra Cloth Boots (feet). Its only listed skill is the passive Boss Large Human, the AI archetype shared by all large humanoid bosses in the game, which governs aggression ranges, stagger behavior, and attack sequencing.

Force Palm is your best tool. Keep it available and use it whenever the boss begins the ground slam wind-up for maximum value.
Dodge magic, parry physical. The boss mixes magic projectiles that cannot be blocked with physical spear attacks that can be parried. Learning to recognize which type is coming determines whether you dodge or parry.
Stay to the sides. The spear has longer reach than other Antumbra weapons. Rolling sideways is much safer than rolling backward, since backward rolls can still get clipped by thrust attacks.
Use heavy attacks after parries. Successful parries on physical attacks let you follow up with heavy attacks that build the stagger meter. A full stagger meter stuns the boss independently of Force Palm.
Do not ignore the smaller enemies. They contribute to the liberation bar and can deal chip damage that adds up over time. Shoot down floating sphere enemies with arrows first.
Complete the puzzle after the boss. Remember to find both Fusion Reactor Cores and activate the generator to fully cleanse the Sanctum.
Pick up the Thorn of Dark Pursuit. Head upstairs after the puzzle. This unique spear weapon is easy to miss if you leave the Sanctum too quickly.
Bring healing food, but this fight is less consumable-intensive than other Antumbra encounters like Antumbra's Sword.
