Quests in Chrono Odyssey split into a main storyline and a layer of regional side content, with a few repeatable systems sitting alongside them as the main ways to earn Gold. Most of what is known in detail comes from developer notes published after the June 2025 Closed Beta Test, so a fair amount of it describes what is planned rather than what has been played.
Quest Types
Type | What It Covers |
|---|---|
Epic Quests | The main questline. Gold rewards from Epic Quests are being increased so players have enough currency during the early game. |
Local Quests | Regional side content. This is the layer that drew the most criticism in the beta and is getting the most rework. |
Bounty Hunting | Repeatable content, grouped with Local Quests and Time Portals as the main sources of larger Gold payouts. |

The Local Quest Rework
Beta feedback was blunt about local quests: they felt overly repetitive, and the rewards were not worth the effort, which left players with little reason to engage with them. The announced response has two parts.
On structure, the plan is to add meaningful events tailored to each region on top of the main questline, along with quests built around distinctive, memorable characters. Some quests are also being reworked so that player choices influence how they progress and how they end, rather than running the same way every time.
On rewards, local quest payouts are being raised to include lore-related items, rare materials, and equipment that feeds directly into character growth. Alongside those, a set of accomplishments, titles, and skins is planned that can only be earned through local quests.
Tracking and Guidance
Quest tracking is being improved so objectives are easier to locate. The stated exception is exploration-focused quests, where guidance is deliberately kept limited to preserve a sense of discovery while still offering some help.
Separately, progression guides are introduced once a player reaches the first Chrono Gate, Thousandfold Piercer. From that point the game points players toward the content that earns Gold, including Bounty Hunting, Local Quests, and Time Portals, each of which is getting a dedicated in-game guide.
