Mana

Initial version (2026-09-11)
Mana is one of the three primary class resources in Chrono Odyssey, alongside Rage and Vigor. It regenerates passively rather than being built through combat, so its classes always have something available even after a bad opening. Their real constraint is budgeting, not generating.
The Paladin and the Sorcerer both use Mana. Neither was playable in the June 2025 Closed Beta Test, which makes Mana the only primary resource that has never been observed in a public build of the game.
Reveal-era class descriptions put it the same way for both classes: the Paladin draws on an energy restored over time, and the Sorcerer's magic is replenished through the endless flow of time. In practice that means passive regeneration with no combat trigger attached. The Paladin spends Mana to heal and protect through holy auras and to strengthen weapon skills; the Sorcerer spends it on spells.
Gear shapes the Mana economy directly on the Sorcerer's side. Manasphere and Grimoire items both carry Mana Reduction as a main stat, and the Grimoire also carries Max Mana, so a Sorcerer's loadout decides how expensive their casting is before a single spell goes out. A crafted Mana potion restores the bar instantly.
Class | How it uses Mana |
|---|---|
Mana pays for healing, for holy auras that buff nearby allies, and for enhancing weapon skills. The Halberd is described as building the divine energy that powers those auras, so the class has an in-combat feed layered on top of passive regeneration. | |
Mana pays for spells. Whether it also pays for healing depends on the loadout, because healing sits on the Grimoire rather than on the class: a Staff and Manasphere pair has no healing at all. |
A resource that returns without being earned produces a different kind of pressure from one that has to be built. A Rage class opens a fight nearly empty and grows stronger the longer it lasts. A Mana class opens full and spends down, so its dangerous moment is the back half of a long encounter rather than the first ten seconds. That is why both Mana classes are described in terms of budgeting and timing rather than aggression, and why Dual Weapon Switching serves them as a way to cover a second role rather than as a way to bank resource.
Mana's absence from the published record follows directly from the test schedule rather than from an oversight. The three classes playable in June 2025 use Rage and Vigor, so the skill tables, costs and generation figures that exist for those two resources have no counterpart here. As of 2026-09-11 no bar size, regeneration rate, spell cost, aura cost or any other Mana figure has been published for either class, and no second closed beta has been dated.
