Bloodlust

Initial version (2026-09-11)
Bloodlust is a secondary class resource in Chrono Odyssey, used only by the Assassin. It sits alongside Vigor, which the Assassin shares with the Ranger, and it is what makes the Assassin the only class in the game managing two resources at once.
Reveal-era class copy describes the Assassin drawing on Vigor and Bloodlust to land devastating blows in quick succession. Class write-ups since have described Bloodlust as building through critical hits and kills and then paying for finisher abilities, which matches the class fantasy of picking a target, setting up, and executing.
Resource | Role in the kit |
|---|---|
The sustaining half. Covers mobility and ordinary attacks, and regenerates on its own. | |
Bloodlust | The payoff half. Accumulates from successful aggression rather than from time, and is spent on finishers. |
The practical effect is that an Assassin cannot simply cycle skills. Vigor sets how often you can move and apply pressure, Bloodlust sets how often that pressure converts into a kill, and the two fill at different rates from different actions. That split is the main reason the class is repeatedly described as having a high skill ceiling.
The Berserker has a secondary resource called Bloodthirst. The names are similar and the two are routinely confused, but they are separate mechanics on separate classes. Bloodthirst accumulates as stacks capped at five, is generated by the Berserker's Chain Blades, and is consumed whole by a finisher whose damage scales with the number of stacks spent. Bloodlust belongs to the Assassin and has never been described in stacks at all. Neither substitutes for the other, and Class Resources counts them as two of the five resources in the game.
This page is short on purpose. The Assassin has never been publicly playable: it was not in the June 2025 Closed Beta Test, and no second test has been dated as of 2026-09-11. Everything published about Bloodlust is description rather than observation, and the specifics below are simply absent:
No generation rate, and no per-critical or per-kill value.
No cap, and no statement of whether it is a bar or a stack counter.
No decay behaviour, in or out of combat.
No named finisher, and no finisher cost.
No crafted potion restores it, unlike Mana and Vigor.
Anything more specific than the page above should be treated as invented until a test including the Assassin puts numbers on it.
