Relics are equippable items that grant Rose combat and exploration bonuses. They are passive: a Relic changes how she plays without occupying an attack button. Konami's Japanese material calls them 魔導器.
Rose can equip up to three at once, and the loadout is meant to be tailored to how a player wants to approach a stretch of the game rather than left alone. That three-slot limit is the whole of the published constraint; there is no listed rarity system, no upgrade currency, and no set bonus.
How Relics Are Earned
Relics are usually rewards for optional challenges rather than critical-path pickups. The two documented shapes are a difficult platforming section and a long combat encounter, both of which sit off the main route. That makes them one of the concrete payoffs for exploring, alongside the secrets and optional zones scattered through Paris.
Relics can also be improved. Weapons, Relics and Arcana all have upgrade paths, which is covered on Progression and Upgrades.
Named Relics
Relic | Effect | Source |
|---|---|---|
Crypt Key | Fully restores health and mana whenever Rose opens a chest. | Found in the game. |
Family's Grace | Not published. Konami lists it as a Relic rather than a cosmetic. | Included with the Midnight Edition. Japanese name 家族の肖像, literally "family portrait". |
Family's Grace is a gameplay item, not appreciation material, which matters when reading edition comparisons. Full Midnight Edition contents are on Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.
What Is Not Known
The full Relic roster has not been published, and neither have the numbers behind any effect. Only two Relics have names attached, and only one of those has a stated effect. Relics from earlier games in the series are not a guide to this list: this game documents its own, and nothing has been said to connect the two systems.
Coverage of the preview build occasionally uses a different word for the same system. Konami's term is Relic, and that is the term used across this wiki.
