Known Issues

Added update 1.1.3, the partial Steam fix for the black-screen launch problem, and dated the status of the remaining issues
Konami published a known-issues notice for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse on October 14, 2026, the day before release, listing three problems on specific platforms. It said a patch to fix them was being created and that it would post again once the update was ready. On October 16, 2026, Konami released update 1.1.3 on Steam as a partial fix for the first of those problems. As of October 19, 2026, the notice itself had not been updated and still described the patch as being created.
Issue | Platforms | Status |
|---|---|---|
The game may fail to launch when V-Sync is turned off and the frame rate is set to Unlimited. | Steam, Xbox on PC | Steam: partly fixed by update 1.1.3 (October 16, 2026), though it may still occur on some systems. Xbox on PC: no update announced as of October 19, 2026. Workaround available. |
Some interface elements may appear partly off-screen. | Steam Deck | Fix under investigation as of October 19, 2026. The official Steam Deck compatibility review separately flags interface text as hard to read. |
Players using certain system languages, mainly Arabic, may be unable to get past the title screen after saving and quitting to it. | PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Xbox on PC | Workaround: switch the system language to another supported language, such as English. Fix in production as of October 19, 2026. |
Konami released update 1.1.3 on Steam on October 16, 2026, the day after release. Its notes cover a single problem: the game failing to launch and showing a black screen on high refresh rate monitors, which is the launch failure listed above. Konami said it expected the update to improve the problem but that it might still occur in some environments, that it was continuing to work toward a full resolution, and that players whose game still did not launch after updating should contact customer support.
The update notes do not mention the Steam Deck interface problem or the system-language problem. As of October 19, 2026, Konami had published no update notes for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC or Nintendo Switch versions, and it has not published the version number the game launched with.
For the launch failure on Steam and Xbox on PC, Konami gives these steps:
Change the monitor refresh rate in Windows to below 60Hz.
Launch the game and open Settings from the title screen.
Under Video Settings, turn V-Sync on, then close the game.
Restore the monitor's original refresh rate.
The game should now launch and play normally.
If the game still fails to launch after several attempts, Konami asks players to contact its customer support.
Nintendo Switch does not appear against any of the three issues in Konami's notice. The Steam Deck issue concerns the interface layout only.
In the first hours after release, many of the negative player reviews on PC described a black screen or a failure to launch, the problem covered by Konami's notice, and some players said the same thing had happened with the demo. Others reported frame drops. These are individual reports rather than issues Konami has confirmed. One account of the PC version after release described the game not displaying on a monitor set above 120 Hz and the frame rate dropping during cutscenes. Over the following days, player reviews on PC shifted from divided to mostly positive.
