Cleansing and Purification

Initial version (2026-09-30)
Cleansing pollution is the central activity in Bloomwalker. Official descriptions build the game around restoring a damaged world rather than surviving in a hostile one, and the house, the companions and crafting all feed into it. The game is unreleased and had no public demo, beta or playtest as of September 2026, so this page keeps the current official description apart from what was shown in a short demo at gamescom 2025.
According to the 2026 store pages, pollution is spreading across Luminoa, and the player cleanses it with purification tools they make themselves. The PlayStation Store listing says these tools restore the true forms of tainted lands, plants and animals. Where purification takes hold, life returns and abundant resources that had been hidden are revealed, so cleansing is also how new materials become available.
Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 feature describes the approach as cleansing whatever stands in the player's way instead of destroying it, washing the pollution from the land and its creatures until color, life and higgledies come back. The same feature says the game is driven by the satisfaction of bringing the world back to life rather than by the pressure to survive.
The Moving House takes part too. The Steam store page says the house gains new functionality as the player travels further, and that it helps cleanse pollution and get past obstacles. Which functions these are had not been described as of September 2026.
The larger targets are Luminoa's sanctuaries and their guardians, who have become incarnations of the pollution. Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 feature sums up the goal as restoring the sanctuaries and freeing the guardians. No guardian had been named as of September 2026, and no official text explains what freeing one involves.
Official copy ties restoration to the spirit companions: the number of higgledies grows as the world recovers. Official copy says the player makes the purification tools, and separately that formulas from familiars combine with materials the higgledies gather to become useful tools and facilities; see Crafting for what is known about it.
The only hands-on build so far was a demo of roughly 15 minutes at the Xbox booth at gamescom 2025 (August 20 to 24, 2025, in Cologne), played on PC in English. The details in this section come from that demo, as described in Netmarble's August 2025 material, an Xbox hands-on preview and a Korean hands-on report from the same week. Several of the names and systems below have not appeared in any 2026 material, and none should be assumed to be in the finished game.
In the gamescom 2025 demo, the player escorted the moving house through tainted areas while its purification power slowly restored the ground around it. That power ran down. The house had a purification gauge that had to be refilled with purification crystals before it could keep moving. The house also moved on its own in the demo; Netmarble Neo's Park Ki-bin said at the show that players would be able to steer it freely in the full game.
In the demo, crystals were made by gathering berries, apples, honey and special materials such as luminite, then feeding them to Kettlekid. Netmarble described Kettlekid as a spirit with the power to purify; the Xbox preview likened it to the living, very hungry contents of a cauldron.
The 2025 reveal called the small spirit companions Oddlings; 2026 material calls them higgledies. In the demo, Oddlings carried the crystals from Kettlekid to the house, and the Korean hands-on report said only they could move purification materials. They tired as they worked and needed beds or tents built at a crafting table, and hugging an exhausted one restored 50 percent of its energy. Stray Oddlings rescued in the wild could join the group, and a larger group sped up the automated deliveries.
In the demo, blighted areas damaged the player. A resource called Breathblossom let the player breathe in those spots for a short time, and tainted areas added small puzzles. The Xbox preview described shriveled plant life and ground turned ashy white, and the Korean hands-on report noted that polluted zones were shown as white fog rather than dark ground.
Clearing pollution around the base widened the area the player could move through and brought out new resources. The demo also had hostile encounters: the Xbox preview described an attack from a giant pelican, and the Korean report said enemies could raid the player's base. Netmarble's 2025 material listed battles against intruders among the main activities, and a gamescom 2025 interview named one intruder creature in Korean and mentioned large-scale threats.
The table compares the demo's purification elements with the 2026 store and press copy, as of September 2026.
