The Steam Next Fest Demo is a free, time-limited playable build of ArcheAge Chronicles, announced on 1 October 2026 for the October 2026 edition of Steam Next Fest. It is the first build of the game that any player can download without applying or being selected, and the first public build to include PvP. It went live on 19 October 2026 as a separate free Steam entry linked from the game's store page.

Content
The demo covers select content centred on Diamond Shores, which the studio describes as one of the game's early-game regions. Korean materials call the region 빛나는 해안 and place it among the early regions of Auroria. The original ArcheAge also had a zone of that name; the demo materials do not say how the Chronicles region relates to it.
PvP is available for the first time in a public build. All four classes are playable, the Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage, each with two of their weapons. PvP channels open much earlier than in the full game: after leaving the first town, players can enter one at the Nui Statue of their next destination, whereas a PvP channel normally becomes available only after the early part of the game. Players switch between standard and PvP channels at a Nui Statue, and the demo includes a kill log and PvP achievements. See PvP Arenas and Character Classes.
Some life content is excluded: Housing and trade are not available in the demo. The studio warns that the demo does not include the full range of content, that some features may be limited, and that players may encounter bugs or unexpected issues.
The rest of the quest content builds on what was playable in the September Network Test.
Throne of Hinnon
The demo adds one new dungeon, Throne of Hinnon. Executive Producer Ham Yongjin describes it as a high-level dungeon that sits outside the demo's normal quest progression, meant for players who want to master the Combat System, and warns that it may be extremely difficult at the level a character reaches in the demo. The key to the dungeon is hidden somewhere hard to find, and the studio has asked whoever finds it first to share it on the official Discord. Dungeons are instanced for a solo player or a party of up to four; see Character Progression.
Changes Since the Network Test
In a letter published on 18 October 2026, Ham listed the changes made since the network test that players can see in the demo:
Area | Change |
|---|---|
Voice-over and facial animation | Both were missing from the network test build and are now fully implemented |
Audio | Significant improvements after the test build's repetitive combat sound effects and lack of depth in the overall sound |
Party play | Quest sharing for party members, better logic for placing party members in the same channel, and fixes for bugs when exploring points of interest together |
Navigation | Clearer paths and clues in points of interest and dungeons, plus a guide explaining how hints are displayed |
PvP channels | Lower entry requirements, so players reach a PvP channel much earlier than usual |
Other fixes | Ladder climbing collision, attack hit detection, missing translations and shimmering visual effects |
The same letter said development of additional gender options for classes is now underway, to be introduced gradually starting with select classes rather than all at once. They are not part of the demo. Ham added that combat, balance and performance will keep being improved on the way to Early Access.
Demo Trailer
An official demo trailer, just over a minute long, went up on the game's video channel on 19 October 2026. The studio describes it as a glimpse of the opening story, set in Auroria 50 years after the events of the original ArcheAge, with hints of a betrayal to come.
Where It Sits in the Testing Sequence
Test | When | Who could take part |
|---|---|---|
Closed focus group test | June 2026 | 165 invited participants |
12 to 13 September 2026 | Steam users in the United States and Canada, selected at random | |
Steam Next Fest Demo | 19 to 26 October 2026 | All Steam users |
A report in May 2026 had tipped a demo for the June 2026 edition of the same event; none was released then.
Not Yet Known
As of 19 October 2026 the studio has not published a level ceiling for the demo or said whether it will report results afterwards. The demo is separate from the Early Access release, which is planned for later in 2026 with no date or price announced as of 19 October 2026. The demo's store entry still lists the earlier PC requirements, with an RTX 3060 Ti as the minimum graphics card, while the main store page was revised in October 2026; see Platforms and Business Model.
