Comprehensive world lore article
Erenor is the world where the ArcheAge franchise takes place. Created by the Mother Goddess Thiol, it contains three major continents, numerous islands, and vast oceans. The lore draws from novels by Korean author Jeon Minhee.
Thiol established the Garden, also called "the navel of the world" and "the birthplace of magic." The Garden is an otherworldly realm governed by Faeries whom Thiol condemned. From this sacred space, Thiol poured magic into the world, turning a desolate wasteland into a living planet.
Thiol also created three "higher races": the Ipnya (magically gifted), the Nuon (ancestors of the Warborn), and the Akasch (a malevolent race eventually sealed in another dimension by the Ipnya, though their influence still leaks through).
Auroria - The northern continent. Original homeland of civilization, including the great city of Delphinad. Abandoned after catastrophic wars and now the setting for ArcheAge Chronicles' "Age of Pioneers."
Nuia - The western continent. Home to Nuians, Elves, and Dwarves, who settled here after fleeing Auroria. Capital: Marianople. 15 zones.
Haranya - The eastern continent. Home to Firran and Harani. Capital: Austera in Solis Headlands. 14 zones.
Roughly 2,000 years before the game's events, twelve adventurers formed the Library Expedition and traveled to the Garden. They emerged transformed with godlike abilities after merging with divine soul fragments from Thiol, who perished in the process. Their actions and conflicts shaped the entire history of Erenor. See The twelve heroes for the full account.
Gene Evernight, corrupted by the power of Kyrios (God of Destruction), triggered the wars that destroyed Auroria. The goddess Nui created a portal to rescue survivors but expended all her power, sealing herself with Kyrios in the Hereafter. Survivors fled south and founded the civilizations of Nuia and Haranya. Anthalon, a necromancer and Kyrios's advisor, led the Crimson Army in continued attempts to breach dimensional barriers.
Kyrios - God of Destruction
Nui - Goddess of the Hereafter / the New World
Dahuta - Goddess of the Sea and Change
Shatigon - God of Iron Walls / Abundance
Tahyang - God of Wind
Haje - God of Sealed Doors
Additional deities include Salphira, Akrites, Hora, Aier, and Ezi. Each god was once a mortal member of the twelve heroes who merged with a divine soul fragment in the Garden.
