The World of Idyll

Idyll is the continent where Aniimo takes place, a vast and lush open world of rolling hills, coastlines, and dramatic skies. It is the home of the wild Aniimo and the proving ground for the Pathfinders who explore it.

Idyll is designed to feel alive. The creatures that appear in any given place change with the environment, the weather, passing phenomena, and the time of day, so the same area can offer different encounters from one visit to the next. This ties exploration directly to catching, rewarding players who learn the rhythms of the land.

Above the continent floats Astra, a sky-bound metropolis and the game's main social hub, where Pathfinders gather, meet one another, stroll its lively streets, and take part in competitions. It connects the solitary thrill of exploration to a shared world of other players. The Global Closed Beta expanded Astra with new social features, including a Nimbi delivery service, stores for accessories and clothing, blind box building, and a pet park.
The Lost Isles serve as the arena for the Egg Heist mode. A water-themed area called Crescent Bay was added for the Global Closed Beta and sits within a region the studio names the Whisperwake Isles, home to a distinct block of ocean-dwelling Aniimo. Beyond these, the official world map names six broad regions of Idyll, each with its own look and conditions that shape the Aniimo a Pathfinder finds there.
Region | Description |
|---|---|
Forest of Falling Stars | A dense purple forest upstream where Celestises glide among the starine trees like shooting stars. |
Mistwoods | A misty swamp of withered twigs that belches bubbles and poisonous miasma, where glimmer fruits shine like glass lamps to guide travelers. |
Echoback Landing | A coastal area haunted by the song of a stranded enormous Aniimo, the answer to which hides in the Echoback singing. |
Sea of Flowers | An endless fragrant field of purple flowers, home to the small village of Bloomville, known for perfumes distilled with help from the Aniimo it has neighboured for generations. |
Blitzwood | A thunder-struck wood where Bolties draw thunder that carves scorched furrows into the grassy slopes amid crackling electric sparks. |
Nimbus Fields | Nimbi bounce across this vast cloud-soft grassland where the scent of fresh grass spreads across rippling green waves. |
Exploration during the beta also revealed a number of smaller named areas that appear as Aniimo habitats across the continent. A few examples of the creatures found in each are listed below.

The Whisperwake Isles are the ocean region introduced alongside the Global Closed Beta, and the setting for the game's late-index Aniimo. Ten species are grouped there: Reefish, Coraliz, Cheekie, Wavwal, Bubbeep, Glameep, Popapus, Gachapus, Malangel, and Malevsera. Crescent Bay is the habitat within the region where most of them are found. Because the region's roster was still being tuned during the beta, several of its Aniimo were among those excluded from the farewell sealing event described on Development.
Idyll is hosted on regional servers. During the Global Closed Beta these ran as Aniimo-AP for Asia-Pacific, Aniimo-EU for Europe, and Aniimo-NA for the Americas. Each opened and closed on its own local schedule, and progress did not carry between them.
