Astra
September 17, 2026 at 12:20 AM
Initial version (2026-09-17)
Astra is the sky floating metropolis above the continent of Idyll and the main social hub of Aniimo. Where the rest of the world is somewhere to explore and catch in, Astra is somewhere to stop: a city of lively streets where Pathfinders rest between journeys, meet other players, shop, take on city quests and set off again. It is the one place in the game built around other people rather than around wild creatures.
The city carries no habitat entries at all in the official creature index. That is not an oversight. Catching happens out in the regions, and Astra is a city rather than hunting ground. See Regions of Idyll and Habitats of Idyll for where the wild Aniimo actually are.
Astra is the confirmed official English name. For several months before that it went unnamed in official English material, and a number of variants circulated that were never the studio's own wording. The name was settled in official site material in July 2026 and has been used consistently since.
Locale | Name | Sense |
|---|---|---|
English | Astra | The official name |
Chinese | 星之都 | Literally City of Stars |
Korean | 아스트라 | A transliteration of Astra |
The Chinese localisation is the same in both Simplified and Traditional script. See Aniimo Terms in Chinese for the wider glossary.
Official site material frames the city as a break in the journey rather than a destination in its own right: somewhere to visit for a moment of rest, stroll through lively streets, meet other Pathfinders and make friends. That framing has held from its introduction through to the launch build.
In practice the city does four jobs.
Role | What it covers |
|---|---|
Social hub | Other Pathfinders are present in the city. Teaming up, meeting players and making friends all happen here |
Shopping | Astra Shops are one of the named sources of Aniipods, and the city is where accessories, outfits and customisation options are unlocked |
Quests | The city has quest giving residents. At least one named quest has a reward step handled by an Astra NPC |
Rest and leisure | Interactable objects in the streets, described in official material as a place to stop between journeys |
Aniipods, the standard catch item, come from four named sources, and Astra is one of them.
Source | Detail |
|---|---|
Exploration | Loot and chests found in the open world |
Quests | Main story, the Aniilog collection track and the training programme |
Astra Shops and the Outpost | Bought over the counter |
Aniipod Maker | Crafted at home in the Homeland |
Customisation is the city's other commercial pillar. Official launch window platform material describes visiting the city of Astra to unlock accessories, outfits and customisation options for both the Pathfinder and their Aniimo. Accessory capacity is limited and differs between the two: an Aniimo can wear up to two accessories, while the player character wears one. See Catching and Aniipods for the catch items themselves.
Astra is populated. NPCs appear both out in Idyll and in the city, and they can be affected by party state: an early 2026 test build carried a fault in which NPCs displayed abnormally in Idyll and in Astra after the player teamed up with friends. A named quest, Mysterious Presence, has an NPC reward collection step in the city, and a swing set is an interactable street fixture that the same test build had to fix. These three details all come from test build patch notes published in early 2026, so read them as evidence that the city was populated and interactive at that point rather than as a launch feature list.
The Global Closed Beta in mid 2026 expanded Astra with a set of social features. They were shown in a test build, and only some of them have been separately confirmed for the shipped game, so each is worth tracking individually rather than treating the whole list as launch content.
Feature shown in the beta | Status as of 2026-09-17 |
|---|---|
Accessory and clothing stores | Corroborated. Launch window platform material describes unlocking accessories and outfits in the city |
Nimbi delivery service | Beta sighting only. No launch window official material naming it was located as of 2026-09-17 |
Blind box building | Beta sighting only. No launch window official material naming it was located as of 2026-09-17 |
Pet park | Beta sighting only. No launch window official material naming it was located as of 2026-09-17 |
Absence from the launch announcements is not the same as removal. The launch material is a short summary rather than a complete feature inventory, and it names very little of the city at all. The honest reading is that three of these four have not been seen again on an official surface since the beta.
Astra is confirmed present in the shipped game. The clearest evidence is an ordinary piece of housekeeping: the first published launch patch, dated 2026-09-17 00:43 UTC+8, lists a visual effects fault on first entry to the city as an open known issue. A known issue is only filed against content that exists, which makes this a stronger confirmation than a marketing line would be.
That same patch lists the city under its Chinese name 星之都, which is the pairing recorded on this page. See Launch Version Changes for the rest of the launch patch.
The Outpost appears alongside Astra in official material as a second place to shop, and it is the site of the Outpost Hatchinator, where special eggs are hatched. Official material lists Astra Shops and the Outpost side by side as Aniipod sources without saying whether the Outpost sits inside the city, beside it or elsewhere entirely, so this page does not assert that it is part of Astra. As of 2026-09-17 no first-party material places the two in a containment relationship.
Several obvious questions about the city have no published answer as of 2026-09-17.
How Astra is reached from the surface of Idyll, and whether access is gated behind story progress
Whether the city has named districts or landmarks beyond the shops and the street fixtures mentioned above
How many residents are named, and how much of the main story takes place in the city
Whether the beta social buildings that have not been mentioned since are present in the launch build under other names
These are gaps in what has been published, not evidence that the city lacks those things. They are recorded so that later work can close them rather than quietly guess.
The World of Idyll for the continent Astra floats above
Regions of Idyll for the six broad regions and the other named places
Habitats of Idyll for where wild Aniimo actually appear
Catching and Aniipods for the catch items sold in the city
