Weapons
A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei features multiple weapon types, each with different attack speeds, damage output, and movement characteristics. Weapons interact with the martial arts styles (武学) system, each weapon type supports its own set of equippable styles, creating distinct combat identities. Weapon choice also affects how efficiently True Qi builds, since faster weapons accumulate it through hit volume while heavier weapons gain more per individual strike.
Blades (刀, Dao)
The blade is the heavier weapon category. It uses a slower, more deliberate moveset with wider attack arcs. The defining move is a heavy two-handed downward cleave (势大力沉的双手下劈) used as a combo finisher. Blades deal high damage per hit but commit the player to longer attack animations, leaving them open during recovery frames if they misread the enemy's pattern.

Swords (剑, Jian)
Swords are lighter and more agile. The moveset emphasizes mobility. The character has greater movement range during attack animations and faster recovery between strikes. Per-hit damage is lower than blades, but the higher attack speed allows sustained pressure and rapid True Qi accumulation through volume. Swords suit players who prefer to stay mobile and chip away at enemy posture.
Spears (枪, Qiang)
Spears have been confirmed in both press coverage and gameplay footage. Specific moveset details for spears have not been demonstrated in available previews. The weapon type's range advantage likely affects spacing and positioning differently from close-quarters blade and sword play.
Dual blades (双刀, Shuangdao)
Dual blades have appeared in footage, including enemies wielding fiery dual swords. Whether the dual blade category shares martial arts styles with the single blade category or has its own dedicated styles has not been confirmed.
Mission-based equipment
Weapons can be found through exploration during missions. The box garden level design hides equipment along optional paths. In the Deng Yang demo, players who explored thoroughly found superior weapons before the boss fight. The Heavenly Deduction system allows carrying up to three items across timeline rewinds, so players can find a powerful weapon in one branch and carry it into a different approach.
