Combat is the part of ZOOPUNK the studio has shown most and talked about most. The stated design principle is that each playable character fights in a way drawn from the animal they are, so the three heroes confirmed so far cover close-range speed, heavy defensive pressure and ranged mobility between them. TiGames frames this as letting players craft their own signature combat experience rather than learning one shared moveset. See Gameplay for the wider picture.
The Three Confirmed Styles
Hero | Range | Core Idea |
|---|---|---|
Rayton the Rabbit | Melee | Agile and fast-paced, using aerial combos to build energy and then spending it on electrically charged attacks |
Braton the Rhino | Melee | A powerhouse brawler with heavy strikes and strong defensive abilities, positioned as the team's frontline anchor |
Trixie the Chipmunk | Ranged | Acrobatic hit-and-run fighting that combines stylish gunplay with ammunition management |
Rayton is the only hero whose resource system has been described in any detail. Aerial combos build energy, and that energy is then released as charged attacks, which makes staying airborne and chaining hits the point rather than a flourish. One of the November 2025 clips is built entirely around him fighting with twin whips, so the whips look like a core part of his kit rather than a single scripted moment. Playable Heroes collects what is known about each character.
Braton's Weapon
Official descriptions of Braton's weapon have not been consistent. The material issued with the November 2025 reveal described a massive flame sword. The material issued at gamescom 2026 described a massive chainsaw. Both came from the studio. Whether the weapon changed during development, whether he carries more than one, or whether this is a translation difference has not been explained, so the specific weapon should be treated as unsettled.
Fighting Together
One November 2025 clip shows Braton and Trixie dropping into a fight Rayton had started alone, described in the studio's own caption as iron fists and flying tech arriving at once. That is the only footage so far that puts the three of them in the same encounter, and it does not make clear whether the other two are player-controlled at that moment, are companions driven by the game, or are part of a cutscene.
Enemies in Combat
Combat footage has shown fights against the mechanical forces of the Machine Legion, and the gamescom 2026 trailer added the first animal bosses. A boss rush clip released with the November 2025 reveal showed several boss encounters back to back. Nothing about enemy archetypes, health, stagger, weaknesses or any elemental system has been described.
