Eleanor

Eleanor is reported to be the protagonist of Xenoblade Genesis. Her name comes from reporting on the reveal trailer shown during the June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct, in English and in Japanese, where she is named as the girl who enrols at the academy. That is a firmer basis than a single report, but the name still does not appear on any of Nintendo's product pages, and the trailer itself does not name her on screen: at least one write-up of the same footage refers to her only as the unnamed protagonist. Treat the name as reported rather than confirmed, and expect it to be restated or changed when the developers detail the cast.
According to descriptions of the reveal trailer, Eleanor is a young woman who sets out on a journey to become a Vesselai, one of the powerful warriors who can wield the special power called Anima. Coverage of the reveal suggests that at least part of her story follows her training at the academy known as Leukos, where students prepare to become Vesselai.
As a Vesselai in training, she is shown receiving a blade that is then imbued with an Anima crystone, the stone said to amplify a Vesselai's power over Anima and to record its bearer's thoughts, actions, and life. Whether the crystone functions as a story device, a gameplay system, or both has not been explained.
Official screenshots add a little to that picture. One shows her walking through a vaulted hall at Leukos among rows of seated students in matching uniforms. Another shows her riding a wolf-like mount along a village track with two other riders behind her. Neither still is captioned, so what they depict in story terms is unstated.
The reveal leans into a high-fantasy look, and the main characters shown, Eleanor included, were described in coverage of the trailer as having elf-like ears. Nintendo's own screenshots later confirmed that directly rather than leaving it to secondhand description. In them she has clearly pointed ears, short pink hair swept to one side, and bright blue-green eyes, and she wears a blue and white uniform with a high collar, a white cravat and tasselled cords at the shoulders. She carries a slim ornate sword with a blue and gold hilt. Beyond what those stills show, no full name, age, or design notes have been confirmed.

Nintendo has not officially detailed Eleanor, so a great deal remains unconfirmed:
Her full backstory, age, and origin.
Her voice cast in any language.
Her relationships with other party members, none of whom have been revealed.
Her combat role, abilities, or how she fights in the battle system, which has not been detailed.
This page will be expanded as the developers reveal more. For an overview of the wider, still largely unrevealed cast, see Characters.
