Witch Totem

Initial version
The Witch Totem is a static structure deployed by Plague Witch enemies during combat. The totem is not an enemy in its own right, in the sense that it does not move or strike, but it amplifies the Witch's spell range and acts as a tether for status effects on the player.
A Witch Totem is planted at the start of a fight when a Plague Witch is alerted. It is rooted in place, has a small hitbox, and visibly emits a corruption pulse on a fixed cadence. While the totem is alive, the parent Witch's hexes apply faster, last longer, and can chain across multiple players in a co-op group. Destroying the totem early breaks the tether and turns the Witch fight into a more conventional caster encounter.
Treat the Witch Totem as a priority kill target. It has low hit points relative to the parent Witch and is destroyed in a single solid hit from any musket, blunderbuss, or two-handed melee weapon. Recommended approach:
Phase | What to do |
|---|---|
Pull | Open with a ranged shot on the Plague Witch, break line of sight, and reposition. The Witch will plant the Totem at the engagement point. |
Totem destruction | As soon as the totem is visible, focus fire on it. Until the totem dies, hex damage and slows on the player are amplified. |
Cleanup | With the totem down, the Witch fights as a normal caster. Close to melee range or finish from cover with a musket. |
The Witch Totem itself does not drop loot when destroyed. The full drop list is held by the parent Plague Witch.
