Vulnerability is an enemy debuff that increases incoming damage by 15% from all sources. The only documented way to apply it in the current Early Access build is with the Epic tier of the Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol. It is the defining utility debuff for burst-setup pistol-melee rotations. In the live build it is the only documented effect that raises an enemy's incoming damage, so it functions as a pure force-multiplier opener rather than a damage source of its own.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Application | Shots from the Epic Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol apply Vulnerability on hit. |
Effect | Target takes +15% damage from all sources for the duration. |
Source weapon tier | Epic only. Base-tier Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol does not apply Vulnerability. |
Type | Enemy debuff (offensive utility) |
Refresh | Reapplied each time an Epic Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol shot connects, so it is kept up by weaving pistol shots between heavier hits |
Best Targets | High-health enemies and bosses, where the +15% multiplier returns the most absolute damage |
Applies In Co-op | Affects the enemy, so every crew member benefits while it is active |
The standard PvE burst rotation used in community guides opens with a single Vulnerability shot from Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol, then switches to the main damage weapon (commonly the Rapier of a Thousand Cuts for bleed stacking, or the Dragons Breath Blunderbuss for boss-phase burst) while Vulnerability is active on the target.
Vulnerability multiplies every subsequent damage source by 1.15, so it compounds with crit damage bonuses, weapon-specific scaling, and stacking talents like Deadly Finale and Bulletstorm. The practical effect on a boss fight is a meaningfully shorter kill time across the duration of the debuff, without affecting the player's own loadout costs. Because the bonus is multiplicative, it stacks cleanly with Mastery-driven critical damage and with high base-damage weapons such as the Blunderbuss family, making the opening pistol shot one of the highest-value actions in a burst window.
